There's an old saying: if it's not broke, don't fix it. That could go for a lot of things, in politics (where the political Establishment/Machine has broken the public trust) and otherwise. Mark will be publishing his public speeches on one of our other blogs, and we will be posting an update on this post to announce which one. The 2 Tymoshenkos

Former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is still courageously standing up to the authorities from her prison cell after what only can be called political persecution of her and others in her party's leadership in Ukraine, and her daughter, Eugenia, is following her example by going around the world and speaking out against the persecution as well. Their example is a good lesson for others to follow, even those in less severe circumstances, as a very manipulative press and propaganda machine in the United States controls elections and treats those who don't toe the 2 major party Establishment line as pariahs. Moreover, when various mayors, here, make life very difficult for the "Occupy Wall Street" movement and other non-Establishmentarians through authoritarian actions. When we get a little down at the Party of Commons because of repressive actions against us, we look to Yulia and Eugenia for inspiration, among others. Our thanks to those 2 strong women for lifting up our spirits.

Blogging will be light, probably about once a week, for various reasons. Mark's lieutenant governor campaign is going well as signatures for the petition are coming at a faster rate than the director of elections campaign petition from a year ago. This is a sign that the Washington community is becoming more aware of Mark and the Party of Commons despite that the corporate media is generally shutting us out from conventional election protocols. Mark's consistent campaigns and word-of-mouth efforts by his supporters are getting around that. Despite that Mark was mocked and ridiculed for bringing up the controversial 9th Congressional District Party of Lincoln primary in 2004, we still have not forgotten that election and hope that some day the truth will come out.

The campaign for lieutenant governor of Washington has been resurrected with the dawn of the New Year. Mark Greene is busily campaigning amongst the people and assuring the people that he is their candidate and not the candidate of the corporations. Your help is needed to get Mark on the ballot. Please, sign the election candidacy petition if you see it or request one petition page to be mailed to you by the campaign, and please try to get 2 - 10 signatures. It seems that the blogging problem that we were concerned about earlier this month was due to significant technical changes by Blogger, recently. We are doing our best to adjust to the new changes. Now, that the political calendar is earlier than of recent years, the petition will have to be turned in earlier as well, so help with the petition is imperative lest we have to settle for the same ol' "Democratic-Republican Party" as our only choice. Congress: A Den of Thieves

In regards to the dangers of GMO (genetically modified) food, nukes (either armaments or energy), and fossil fuels that are warming the planet, the den of thieves in the U.S. Congress, with a handful of exceptions, are doing exactly the opposite of what should be done in responding to these crises, and in fact strengthening the corporate grip in bringing about catastrophes that have already contaminated the Gulf of Mexico with chemicals, like corexit, and the Pacific Ocean with the most onerous kinds of nuclear waste, in the last two years, and threatening even more fiascos.

The GMO food experiment in the nation is the biggest guinea pig laboratory in history and must be stopped in its tracks. You can be reasonably sure that the biotech executives that have sprung this poison pill upon us are not eating the same food as commoners and that they are hypocritically buying the much more expensive organic foods for themselves and their families. They care not a whit about the far away future, but only about the span of their individual lives, and most of all, the profits that they make from shaking the foundations of the natural world order to the depths of ruination. Pretending to be gods, playing with the seeds of the earth and spreading them around the world, is the same thing as playing with Mother Nature, which makes the shady Monsanto Corporation and their cohorts one of the greatest threats to the survival of humanity. The den of thieves in the bought-off Congress can not so much as mandate labeling, let alone ban this monstrosity of GMO experimentation, which involves manipulating natural plant genes and invading common agricultural practices with an untested, unnatural and inhuman science that has already been shown to deterioate the health of mammals. A dangerous science that has contaminated the food stock of most of the United States and much of the world. The Europeans have too much sense to allow this mostly unregulated science to become widespread in their land.

New Year's Eve Appeal for Money

Hello, Supporters and Voters,

As a lieutenant governor candidate from Washington, I will need your monetary support more than ever, as I cannot win or get by the primary, let alone to think about the general election, without your donations of $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100. With 91% of the congressional delegation from Washington state, Democrats and Republicans, voting to overturn the Bill of Rights, I will stand firm in defending the Constitution and our constitutional rights, and I will do what I can, elected or unelected, to turn back the recently signed nullification of the Bill of Rights. Please, stand with me and statesmen like Ron Paul in turning back the rollback of our rights that was instituted by the so-called Patriot Act and the aforementioned, very dubious so-called defense provision. I was pleased to learn that musician, Kelly Clarkson, also supports Ron Paul for president as this man has more integrity than all the other congresspersons put together, and I don't believe he's any more insensitive regarding race matters than anyone else, generally, and probably less so given that he criticizes the so-called war on drugs.

I don't agree with Paul regarding economics, but he's right on some of the most integral issues of our time, such as getting out of the world police business and stopping the infringement of our rights. They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions, not to mention not so good. We need to shore up our environment, stop global warming, pull out of the overwhelming majority of foreign bases, pull the plug on nuclear energy, dismantle nuclear armaments (internationally/multilaterally), and support Main Street instead of Wall Street.

Sno Valley's Objective Journalism

The media is beginning to recognize Mark as a major contender for lieutenant governor.

The Sno Valley Star has mentioned the candidacy of our candidate, Mark Greene, for lieutenant governor of Washington state in an article about another contender, state legislator Glenn Anderson (who is from Fall City). This is a sign that the media is paying attention to the near 100,000 votes that Mark received in the King County elections director election last month, and that that big support has catapulted Mark as a major contender for lieutenant governor. However, the other Washington media just about fell all over themselves when a washed-up former legislator, Bill Finkbeiner, announced he was a candidate a few weeks ago. You got the feeling that the media, like they generally do, was trying to annoint the two primary qualifiers, including incumbent Brad Owen, eight months ahead of time. Why do we need elections anyway if we have the media telling everybody who the winners are way ahead of time, which is exactly the self-fulfilling prophecy that some of them are trying to establish? Congratulations to the Star for being objective like journalism is suppose to be. Anderson and Finkbeiner are Republicans, which is exactly the kind of split we need for Mark, probably the only lt. governor candidate supportive of Ron Paul-type foreign policy anti-intervention, to make the Top 2 in the primary. Another Republican, or two, and a Constitution Party candidate would remind of us of that old saying, "the more, the merrier."

Washington State and the Bill of Rights Nullification

These members of the Washington Congressional Delegation, listed below, voted in favor, unfortunately, of the latest National Defense Authorization Act, in separate votes by the 2 houses of Congress, that effectively nullifies the Bill of Rights (please, see our two previous posts about this subject and our blog Statesperson). All 10 of them, 6 Democrats and 4 Republicans, should be voted out of office next year and when Murray is up for re-election in 2016. Only James McDermott from the 7th District, of all the members of the Washington delegation, had the integrity to vote against this bill, which incidentally has more things wrong with it than just the Bill of Rights issue, but that was the most important and glaring.

GOP Nomination Contest Could Be the Ballgame

We support Ron Paul for president, at least for now; not that we would support any of the Republican presidential candidates except Paul (and possibly Gary Johnson if we knew more than next to nothing about him), but their nomination contest is beginning to look more important everyday, since it looks like Obama will soon be signing the nullification of the Bill of Rights codification that just passed in the pathetic 112th Congress. Even though this particular provision in the defense authorization bill may become law if Obama signs the bill, it would really not be the law, since it clearly overrides the Constitution, and Congress cannot do that through a simple bill that is not an amendment to the Constitution, and not ratified by the necessary super-majority of the states. We think that Obama would be undermining his re-election campaign if he actually signs the bill, which at this time, we're not really sure if he hasn't already. We have a feeling that there won't be a signing ceremony for this one, and if it is signed, it will probably be signed as secretly as possible, and perhaps the mainstream media would let us know one way or the other.

Back to why the Republican nomination contest is suddenly very significant, because if Obama signs the nullification, it's beginning to look like they will actually nominate the next president, barring a strong third-party or independent presidential contender getting in the race. Obama will probably lose about 20% of his base by signing this bill, including that part that he's already lost by his poor to mediocre performance in the executive office. We don't think he can win with one-fifth of his base gone, which makes us wonder why his political advisers are not telling him that signing the aforementioned bill is political madness. Speaking of madness, this bill got broad bi-partisan support in Congress, and we still don't know who the particular members of the Washington state delegation, if any, who voted for it, because the mainstream media has been playing down this very important story, the same way that they play down many other very important stories that they would rather not the common folk, like us, get too excited about. We will do our own research on who voted for this bill from Washington and will be publishing their names right here on Commoner. Anybody who voted for it should be voted out of Congress, of course. In effect, those who voted for it don't respect the 5th and 6th Amendments (USC), which guarantees our right to a trial by jury if we are charged with a crime. Just because you think that you will never be charged with a crime is not a good reason not to support this long cherished part of our Constitution. This bill makes indefinite detention without trial "legal" for both American citizens and non-citizens alike.

Since the Republican nomination fight is beginning to look like the whole ballgame, that is all the more reason to support Ron Paul for president, who is vociferously against this bill, and as far as we know the only top-tier Republican candidate against it. Please, support Paul for the nomination.

Vote for Ron Paul

The Party of Commons is endorsing Ron Paul for the Republican nomination, and if there is not an acceptable strong independent or third party candidate in the general election, we'll probably endorse Paul for the general election as well if he gets the nomination. Please, if you are able to vote in the Republican primaries, vote for Ron Paul. After this disgraceful 112th Congress nullified one or two of the Bill of Rights on the very day that celebrates those first 10 amendments to the Constitution, we need a strong principled person that actually upholds his oath of office as president. Unbelievably, the Bill of Rights nullification this week received an overwhelming majority of the vote of Congress, which just goes to show that's there's not a dime's worth of difference between the two major parties. There are exceptions within those parties however, and Ron Paul is one of them, which is why the Republican Establishment doesn't like him. Ron Paul's son, Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, also did not support the nullification within the military funding bill, so congratulations to him, too, for being against it. This is a very dangerous bill, and it should be receiving more attention than it has thus far. See our blog, Statesperson, for more about our statements and opinions regarding this bill. Barack Obama, the so-called constitutional scholar, supports the nullification, and in fact successfully intimidated the Senate into taking out a provision that protected the constitutional due process rights of American citizens. This president is one of the biggest frauds, going by his '08 campaign, that ever managed to win the presidency. We don't care if he was good on a thousand other things, which he's not that either, but if he trys to nullify the Billl of Rights, we wouldn't support him even if his main opponent was absolutely deplorable, because there will probably be at least one acceptable 3rd party or independent candidate on the ballot, weak or strong. The paradoxical dilemma regarding Ron Paul's candidacy is that he's excellent on foreign policy and civil liberties, but not good on general domestic policies. However, the threat to our democracy is so great that we would rather take the chance that Paul's domestic agenda could be stopped in Congress than to support the deterioating status quo. So without an acceptable strong non-major party alternative, we hope that Ron Paul will be taking the presidential oath of office in 2013.

Update: The Obama rule made a big show about possibly vetoing this bill (and later indicated it would be signed), but that was more likely about politics than anything else. As indicated above, Obama pressured the Senate to take out the provision protecting the due process rights of American citizens, as was related by Senator Carl Levin in so many words; so Obama's veto threat had everything to do with protecting unconstitutional presidential powers and perhaps, like in '08, trying to bamboozle his base into thinking that he is a progressive.

Corporate chieftains and the Establishment are lining up behind the incumbent Lieutenant Governor, Brad Owen, as Public Disclosure Commission reports are currently showing. Of course, they enjoy the tax loopholes that their underlings in Washington's official political circles provide for them, as the budget crisis here squeezes the poor and the needy, and big businesses use storefront offices, or maybe even mere post office boxes, in other states to avoid taxes. Join Our Commoneer Youth Program

The Party of Commons is starting a political training program for young adults and older teenagers in Washington in which classes will instruct Commoneers about civics and governmental matters, our party platform, how to run a political campaign, including lessons on Public Disclosure Commission regulations, election laws, and how to get on the ballot. Parental permission will be required for aspiring Commoneers that are 16 or 17 years old. Like the country of Austria in central Europe, the Party of Commons believes that 16 and 17 year olds should have the right to vote, and we are working towards that goal. This program is basically getting our future members ready to take up official positions in the Party of Commons, a.k.a., Commons Party, and to eventually run for office. Our meetings will be held in library meeting rooms in the Puget Sound area, although we may have special library meetings in other parts of Washington someday, so feel free to write from wherever in Washington you are from (we may have special on-line classes for those who cannot attend meetings for one reason or another). Instead of focusing on controversial elections in Russia, the Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, might want to turn her gaze towards here, the United States of America, where there are a lot of fraudulent and rigged elections across the nation, including suppression of the vote scams, presently being given a legal imprimatur by many state legislatures. And no Secretary of State is expressing disgust about America's democracy crisis that we are aware of, and no Attorney General is really trying to investigate these problems. Instead of calling for investigations in Moscow, she might want to call for an investigation in Renton, Washington, U.S.A., where the King County Department of Elections is located. Maybe then, with her influence, the public will finally get a chance to find out what happened in the 2004 Republican primary for U.S. Representative in the 9th Congressional District. Don't bet on that happening, because most of the politicians in America are more bluster about democracy than actual practitioners of it.

Same Ol' Media in Lt. Governor Race

The corporate media, especially the Seattle Times, tried their level best to keep my vote count down by not covering one iota of the director of elections race except for Sherril Huff's re-election announcement, not to mention keeping attention away from the '04 Ninth Congressional District stolen primary. They will be doing the same thing in 2012 regarding the lieutenant governor election, but my near hundred thousand vote count despite the shady journalism practices of the media, including their poison-penned sycophants like Feit and Holden, will be a great buffer against them in the Top 2 Primary. No one else in the primary will speak about the issues that I do or really represent the people, such as speak to issues like the insanity of the new drone warfare and the nuclear armaments stalemate and dilemma (and by that, I mean nuclear armaments in general, including Uncle Sam's). No one else in the lieutenant governor race will speak to the craziness of wasting billions of dollars on a missile shield in Europe while our infrastructure in America is falling apart. Meanwhile, the corporate media will denigrate me through ignoring regular journalistic protocols or through the ignoramus scribblings of their so-called alternative media sycophants. If we're lucky, the majority -- and not only the great 90,000 King County residents who voted for me this year -- will figure out that they are Wall Street's servants by time the primary comes around. I only need to come in second in the first round.

From the "Ring of Fire" radio program and other news sources, it is becoming more widely known that Bayer Pharmaceutical Company's oral contraceptives for women are becoming increasingly controversial, and according to some studies more risky than some other types of oral contraceptives (see the link further below regarding the British Medical Journal's study on these contraceptives). Why doesn't the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) pull these particular drugs off the market if there is a significant increased risk of health problems? This is part and parcel of the problem of the FDA being run largely by corporate insiders or former corporate insiders who seem more concerned about their former companies' interests than the health and welfare of the public at large.

It looks like I will have around 22% of the vote and 90,000 total votes for director of elections in King County despite the determined efforts of the poison-penned sycophants of the corporate mainstream news media, and of course the corporate media itself, to demean my candidacy. Despite everything, they failed tremendously, because my votes and my petitions have been significant enough to slowly but surely chip away at Democratic-Republican rule (it's effectively one party, they are a team). This election signifies that I am now a major player in Washington state politics, and that any election that I stand in from this point on, I have a chance of winning. Which also means that Washingtonians, in elections, may no longer go along with the so-called free trade mantra that has decimated jobs and the manufacturing sector (which has given the corporate mammoth even more reign over the government that is suppose to be representative of the people), the overall internationalist agenda, the pro-GMO, you-don't-need-to-know-what-your-food-consists-of decision-making in D.C., the hazardous nuclear policies (concerning both energy and arms), and the environmental gridlock that harms the planet we live on. Fascist Mayors

Homelessness is quite hellish. Nowhere to put your property. Often nowhere to sleep. And of course major difficulties in going through everyday-type life. The long economic depression has made it just about impossible for many people to find jobs as a result of the let everybody-in-the-world immigrate to America policies, the so-called free trade boondoggles, the astounding corporate big-shot greed, in which a handful of individuals get paid ridiculously large amounts of money, and the overall indifference to people who are unemployed and suffering hard times. Now, we have the spectacle of sleazy, fascist mayors all over America telling the "Occupy" demonstrators and the poor that they cannot set up encampments in public areas, overlooking the fact that many of these people have no home. So people have been economically disenfranchised to the point that they cannot even afford a sleeping room, let alone an apartment, and now they are being told that they will be arrested if they sleep outdoors -- even though many of these cities issuing the orders cannot provide shelter for people without homes. This is pure sadistic harassment of the poor by officials who apparently are trying to drive many people into a pit of hell, ethical behavior be damned. It's about time that these officials be driven out of office by the many through re-calls and votes.

Right to Know about GMOs Initiative

The Party of Commons will soon be sponsoring an initiative to the People that would require one of the state departments or agencies, yet to be determined, to post on their website the exact brand name or generic foods that have some genetically modified organisms (GMO) within them and that are sold in the State of Washinton. This would be a simple list, that wouldn't necessarily have to be comprehensive, and would cost very little in state funds to operate. Although, this is not as extensive as the proposed California initiative that would require labeling on the actual foods that have GMO, this is the best we can do given our shoestring budget, and we're hoping that some bigger organization in Washington will replicate the California initiative. Anybody that can help us with funding this initiative, please, send any amount you can to P.O. Box 612, Bellevue, WA 98009. We will file the paperwork as soon as possible in January and, if we get some funding help, print thousands of petition pages, which would probably be available in early February. A Big Advantage in the Election for Lieutenant Governor

By time the ballots are finished being counted for the Director of Elections election, Mark Greene expects to have about 90,000 votes in King County, and if we're lucky, reaching 100,000. If Mark manages to keep at least 75% of these great supporters for the Lieutenant Governor primary next summer, that could mean about 67,000 - 75,000 votes in only 1 out of 39 counties. The incumbent is from Mason County. Lisa Brown is from Spokane County. It will be possible for a 3rd party candidate to place in the Top 2, because we're hoping that several Republicans will run, thereby splitting their vote by 4 or more, and that Owen and Brown will divide the Democratic vote by one having a very decisive outcome over the other. Mark must come ahead of one of them in the primary or there could be 2 Democrats in the General Election.

Snakes on Conventional Media

It's amazing how supposedly respectable television and radio media that run political and public affairs programs can actually invite so-called journalists like Josh Feit and Dominic Holden on their programs. It just goes to show how low the depths of conventional media political programming has sunk in Seattle. The National Public Radio station in Seattle, KUOW, is one pathetic example, just one mind you, of how the mainstream media caters to disreputable bloggers and political distortionists for commentary on a constant basis. Has the government completely taken away taxpayer funding from them yet? We haven't checked on that yet, but if they haven't, it's about time.

Third Party Politics Is Patient, Hard Work

Just like September of 2004, though mistakely then, I am giving the election administrators the benefit of the doubt that the vote count in this election is reasonably accurate. In this case, a more than 100,000 vote margin between the incumbent and myself, in her favor, is insurmountable even in a postal mail election (unlike '04 in which there were both poll and mail voting), but I don't concede elections anymore until they are certified, at least. This election was a very high hurdle to jump, seeing that on the one hand several bloggers, some posing as journalists, used smears, distortions and outright lies in a propaganda campaign for the benefit of Ms. Huff. On the other hand, the Establishment ignored conventional protocols to give the public at large the impression that I wasn't worthy to be a candidate, with a big assist from the sleazy municipal league of King County. They are all part of the two-party dominance of politics in our nation that bends rules to make third-party or independent-commoner competition in politics an extremely uphill climb. In this and our other blogs, I have written about the ways in which the two parties are essentially corporate shills and sycophants, with imperial pretensions worldwide, feudal economics, being more internationalist than nationalist, and no environmental conciousness. Third party politics is hard work and very patient incrementalism. This (politics) is about the heart of society and how it will be shaped, and political parties -- especially third parties -- have a duty to participate in elections and offer choices & alternatives. A New, Friendly Elections Department

If the votes go my way today, this will usher in a new, friendly elections department wherein the 3 most important goals of elections: correctness of registration procedures, correctness of vote tabulation, and correctness of ballot processing procedures will be the main priority. Despite falsehoods on the internet, I do support verifiable paper trails (as if wasn't a fait accompli anyway with the optical scanner system that King County uses), and more than that, corroboration of machine results through hand recounts in sample random precincts for all elections regardless of the closeness of the vote. The new elections department, if it comes about today, will be exceptionally friendly, respectful of all candidates, and gracious to the public at large. There is still time to vote today before 12:00 AM, but the earlier that you get your ballot mailed, in either an official postal drop box (the last pick-ups at most postal mail boxes are generally from 3 PM - 5 PM), the post office, or an elections department drop box, the better. Thank you (the public) for giving me the opportunity to make my case for a brand new and friendly elections department.

News Media Downplays Eastside Ballot Mess

The Potemkin Village, a.k.a., King County Elections, failed to mail out thousands of Eastside ballots on time, but most people in King County don't know about it, because the Mainstream News Media has downplayed it as if were nothing important that many voters may have been disenfranchised from the November 8th election. Just because the ballots were mailed out eventually, presumably, does not mean that disenfranchisement did not take place, because many people may have left town for business or pleasure after they were suppose to receive them and before their ballots eventually arrived, and may not be planning to return home until after the election. This could make a difference in a close election.

Meanwhile, the King County Council is starting to ask questions about this incident, and have requested the appearance of the incumbent director to the next council meeting, right before Election Day. Don't bet on the news media covering this since they have been in the pocket of Ms. Huff ever since she announced her re-election candidacy.

Teenagers, Commoners and Reserved Politicians Are Supporting Mark

Galvanized by Mark Greene's support for voting by 16 & 17 year olds, and social internet media activity that is spreading that message, there are increasing signs that teenagers in Seattle and other King County areas are pushing the vote for Mark by voting themselves if they are 18 or 19, or asking their parents to vote for Mark. Commoners increasingly frustrated by the Establisment's political aims over the years are also supporting Mark and participating in the "Occupy Seattle" protests. Some good politicians are supporting Mark as well, although they are talking in murmurs and being somewhat reserved as they may be apprehensive to upset the silence that has been laid out by the Establishment for the director of elections election this year.

Setting the Record Straight, Again

Updated, further below, about 6:30 PM on Nov. 3, 2011.

I wouldn't even be dignifying some of these smears on the internet by responding to them if Google, Bing and Yahoo didn't place them on page 1 or 2 of internet searches of my name and candidacy, but there is one lie out there that needs to be rebutted before it gets traction: going against this lie, I very well do support verifiable paper trails of electronic vote tabulation machines. The opposite of that is a particularly onerous lie, because not only do I support paper trails, but I want corroborating hand recounts of that same paper in sample random precincts of all elections regardless of how close the unofficial vote count is, and one day, I might even go farther than that, and say that paper should be used exclusively for voting in King County, and bar the tabulating machines. So you can tell that the (Logan)-Huff supporters are getting desperate when they turn what I say into 180 degrees the opposite. By the way, the particular website/blog that made the smear about paper trails is aptly named.

Update (11/3/11): making this lie even more outlandish, it would be impossible not to have a paper trail in King County anyway with the optical scanner system that is now used, and I never said anything about making elections less verifiable. Enough about this intentional smear, but now you know that this election is close, and the Establishment and their sycophants are sweating hard.

Mark Pays Surprise Visit to Elections

Austerity measures needed at Elections to save taxpayers' money.

Mark Greene showed up at King County Elections in Renton, today, to inspect the counting procedures and to become acquainted with the office staff. Everything was essentially well as far as could be ascertained from a distance, but there were some frivolous items, such as paid water coolers, which should be abandoned in an era of severe state and county budget cuts. It's no better than tap water, and probably less so, but if elected, Mark will poll workers before taking certain austerity measures. Other austerity measures needed, generally, will be considered and acted upon if necessary without a poll. Remember, also, Mark plans on reducing his own salary, if elected, by 50% by sending a letter to the council on Day 1 or during the transition period, and requesting a decrease. This will not affect the salaries of the civil service staff. The current salary for director is approximately $155,000 per year.

An Activist Elections Department

Being that tomorrow is All Saints' Day, I recalled that I was named after Saint Mark, the writer of the 2nd gospel of the New Testament, which is widely known as the activist gospel. If elected, I will lead an activist elections department, clearly realizing the constitutional separation of church and state, but activist in civic matters, such as going to the school boards and PTA meetings, advocating for more civics classes. Going out into the communities, registering new voters and updating old registrations. Going to the state legislature, advocating for sensible reforms that will make our election system better and more accessible to diverse socio-economic groups, including those that want to actively participate as candidates. Going to the King County Council, advocating for temporary polling/election centers in county libraries and other places on election days. This is just a sample of the brand new activist elections department that we would have if I am elected. Thank you.

Teenagers for Mark for Elections Director

The word is starting to spread through the high schools of King County, Washington that Mark Greene, candidate for Director of Elections, supports the vote for 16 & 17 year olds, an age group which is increasingly taking on adult responsibilities such as driving automobiles and working for private employers. Giving this age group the right to vote would increase interest in politics and civics generally in high school, thereby sparking a life-long interest that would increase participation in our national and state democracies over the long run. This is as young as the right to vote should ever go, but we as a nation should get to that point as quickly as possible. In a nation which has the gall to send 18 year olds to war, that group should at least have had an opportunity to have decided which politicians decide on issues of war and peace. So teenagers, if you are reading this, please, request to your parents that they vote for me for Director of Elections, or yourself vote for me if you are either 18 or 19, which is a position that cannot directly implement a new voting age law, but at least would be in a prominent position to advocate for such a law to our legislators in Olympia and our representatives in Congress. I Wouldn't Write About This Election Either If I Were the Seattle Times

Imagine the Seattle Times just ignoring the King County Director of Elections election completely, after all the coverage they gave the very first election for this position in '09, and just about every other local election that they are covering this year. Do they think that I am so upset by their dereliction of duty that I am beside myself with grief, and might even consider getting out of politics because of them? They can dream on, because I will be in the thick of politics with the support and votes of the people who are tired of politics as usual, because a victory by me would empower the people of King County through knowing that their votes will be counted and that they can change the government by will. Nonetheless, I can understand the Times, because if I had missed a story on how a U.S. Representative primary was stolen in '04 in my own territory, and still refused to investigate it seven years later, if not actually stonewalling the story, I might not want to cover an election either that involves the details of that long ago primary. Meanwhile, I get called all sorts of names by those who aren't impressed with anything not given the imprimatur of the corporate mainstream news media for having the audacity to protest a questionable election (not properly investigated by the Elections Dept. back then, if investigated at all) in which it looks like I was denied a rightful victory. This is an important story, too, because if we can't be sure that our votes are really counted, then we can't be sure that the people's democracy is in fact that.

Huff-McConnell Elections Dept. Forgets Eastside Ballots

The (Logan)-Huff-McConnell Elections Office failed to mail out thousands of ballots to Eastside voters before realizing their mistake according to an article on Sound Politics (Oct. 28, 2011), which they apparently got from the Seattle Times. Of course, the Mainstream Media has either been keeping this quiet or buried in their back pages, or announced in the wee hours of the night when most people are asleep. Once again, the failure to put in safeguards to protect vital functions at Elections has led to more follies at the Potemkin Village, and as usual, pretty much ignored by the press. It's not too late to mail your voting ballot in (if you have actually received it) for Mark Greene for Director of Elections. If you haven't received your ballot in the mail, you can call the Elections Dept., or go to one of their offices at the annex in downtown Seattle or the main office in Renton, and request a provisional ballot.

Publicola's Lies

So far, the smears have generally been based on opinions, but today Publicola.com took it a step farther by making outright false statements and allegations about me, which may be construed as defamation. They may think that they have a legal right to lie because they are a so-called journalistic entity and this is a public case about a candidate/public figure, but I'm willing to test that theory in a court of law. I was absolutely amazed while reading their "ratings article" about me, and at least one false statement could be rebutted by just looking at my voters' guide statement, and now I know how some celebrities feel when they complain about tabloids just making up stuff about them out of thin air. Publicola should not be surprised, come December or January, or a little later, if they get served a summons and a complaint. They should do the right thing now, and retract their falsehoods, immediately.

To set the record straight, I have never accused the Elections Department (or anyone else) of conspiring to steal an election from me. I have only said or implied that in 2004 the Elections Department did not investigate properly, or at all, the probable fraudulent election involving the 2004 9th Congressional District primary between Paul Lord and myself. I do not know who is responsible for rigging that election, and I do not think the Elections Department is responsible for the actual fraud. Furthermore, I have never used the word "conspiracy" in my allegations about probable fraud, since for all I know it could have been just one person who rigged the election.

This Publicola site is particularly sleazy, in their same "ratings article," it looks like, although not technically written as such, that Julie Kempf, a former elections director, was either made to appear, or to give them the benefit of the doubt, just sloppily written, as though she was responsible for the 2004 gubernatorial election confusion, when in fact, it was Dean Logan that was responsible for conducting that election. We believe that Kempf was no longer employed at Elections during that time.

Supporters of Logan-Huff-McConnell elections are getting worried about my 15 month campaign. They are resorting to smears, some of them outlandish, to try to stop the momentum of my campaign, a sure sign that nobody is sure who is going to win this election. It's amazing how people talk the talk about how they are tired of the Establishment, and then do everything possible to keep them firmly in place. I'm not sure whether they are hypocrites or delusional. More than ever, with ballots out, I need those who want the people of King County to be empowered through their votes to assure that I get enough votes by spreading the word about my campaign. The election for director of elections is real close, the opposition is in disarray, and victory is at hand.

They Call This Journalism?

Update: there will be a new post in Election Administration News (Politico) about a small blunder by me.

Well, this is the excuse for the urgent announcement we at Commoner would make to interrupt leaving the previous post up for a month. I won't dignify them by referring to their moniker, but part of the sycophantic media in Seattle made some outlandish, intentional distortions about me. For one thing, my attempt to show that there is real fraud in elections was mocked, but I never said there was more than one election involving myself that was fraudulent, although of course they had to use a plural word to try to paint me as whatever caricature they chose to make. They also mocked the F.B.I. involvement in the Lord v. Greene primary of 2004. Did they actually try to check if the F.B.I. took an interest in this case? Probably not. Did they ask me if I had any letters or documents from the F.B.I.? Of course not, after all, I'm not talking about real journalists, here, but I do have a letter from the F.B.I. regarding this case. Did they do any serious checking of any nature about my allegations regarding the '04 primary? It's very doubtful. It's just par for the course for their partisan mission to get elected whoever they want to be elected. At least, the Times has the dignity to stay aloof from the Director of Elections campaigns this year, which is at least better than lies.

In honor of Yulia Tymoshenko, we will leave this post on the front page for an entire month unless Ms. Tymoshenko is released from jail before then or there is something else that is particularly urgent to relate on Commoner. Yulia Tymoshenko needs our moral support, as she was thrown in jail by her political persecutors some weeks ago, and faces 7 years in prison from a trial based on ridiculous charges regarding arcane finance decisions that she obviously had the authority to make during one of her two tenures as Prime Minister of Ukraine. Please, write letters to the editor insisting that the State Department keep a close watch on this kangaroo trial, and to recall our ambassador in Kiev, in protest, if Tymoshenko is sentenced harshly or if her political rights are revoked. This looks all too similar to the former Egyptian president/dictator, Mubarak, throwing his presidential opponent in jail after the election. Yulia Tymoshenko is one of the most tenacious and best politicians in the world, and unlike a lot of American politicians, has the courage to protest sham elections. Quite Nominal Democracy

There has never been such a level of disrespect toward basic democratic norms, and thereby democracy itself, in King County, as there has been this year regarding the Director of Elections election, as appointed minions of the corporate machine have conducted candidate forums all over the county, and very few have issued invitations to Mark Greene (the Shoreline community is a commendable exception, along with one or two organizations). Some forums have even gone so far as to invite hand-picked candidates (in other words, not every candidate) for governor in next year's election rather than to consider this year's major regional elections, including the Port of Seattle.

This attitude of a few selecting hand-picked candidates or hand-picked races for the public to consider rather than letting the public decide for themselves is fascistic, and even democracies in other parts of the world allow all candidates to attend forums. So much for democracy in King County, but at least the people may decipher that one of the reasons why Mark Greene is not invited is that Mark is not going to go along with the corporate program of serfdom for the masses or imperialism.

Bookends: Tales of Shirley Jackson & George Orwell

The two best tales of the last century to fortell the future are "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson and "Nineteen Eighty-four" by George Orwell. The authors were prophets of their time for whom we would be wise to reconsider as their prophecies have come to light a little more than sixty years since the publishing of their tales: Jackson's in 1948, and Orwell's in 1949.

Both tales are a mirror of our times as Jackson wonders how a society could keep doing something absurd, even as it instinctively knows it's ridiculous, and yet keeps following the pattern, because of built in systems or traditions of a perilous nature, including that of hardly ever upsetting the established viewpoints. Nuclear energy programs all around the world are a case in point, as humanity produces extremely hazardous atomic waste by self-replicating caseloads, stuff they have no idea of where to put, but putting it someplace nonetheless, none of which is a good place, and that of which getting into the worst places, as it inevitably does, wrecks the ecosystem, not to mention occasional meltdowns and a million years-or-so life spans of unfriendly to humanity and animals alike radioactive particles. All of this is particularly curious, especially since there are relatively safe energy alternatives from wind, solar, and geothermal sources that are far from being fully developed. As for other Jackson-type "lotteries" that societies partake in, the list is long.

Then there is Orwell. If Shirley Jackson was the prophet of illogic unchecked, then George Orwell was the prophet of politics gone astray, as his "1984" shows that power, unchecked and immovable, gives rise to totalitarianism and tyranny. Today, the Constitution is ignored regularly, with barely a murmur of protest, as many think that seemingly practical things, like omnipresent security, are more important than the rule of law, and politicians and judges have figured out a way to squirm around basic democratic norms, by simply acting in a way that makes democracy narrow and nominal. Whereas economic power is regarded as practically supreme by those political and institutional forces that erode democracy.

In a way, Orwellianism, and Jacksonian illogic make good bookends as an ominous warning to society, because one could probably not thrive without the other. Illogic thrives when Orwellianism rules. Orwellianism thrives when illogic rules.

Mail Ballot Decentralization

Hello Voters and Supporters,

I have spent so much time writing about the non-administrative aspects regarding the director of elections election, that I have spent too little time writing about actual election administration process. So I am proposing the overhaul of the way ballots are handled at Elections. With the way the system is now, in a big county like King, a million ballots, for example, are thrown together with complicated codes and variances, and put through a mistake-prone system, including machines originally from a controversial company, and otherwise processed in a way that makes human and machine error virtually a certainty. This centralized system will be replaced if I am elected. I will implement a system of de-centralization in which there will be 250 divisions, with each division containing around 10 precincts, and thereby being responsible for the tabulation of 1/250 of the ballots that the present system accounts for in a single centralized system. The totals from the 250 divisions will simply be added together to get the final results for each measure or position. In a single entity, that cuts down the number of overall ballots from one million to four thousand (or whatever the particular ratio is depending on what the total number of ballots are in a particular election), and thereby will make processing less mistake prone, and errors or fraud easier to find. No more of a million ballots thrown together and hoping for the best.

Big Brother Press

I and my fledgling party consider participating in elections as a fundamental right for political parties in a democracy, and I/we don't depend on the corporate media, nor their on-line/so-called alternative press sycophants, for respect. Respect comes from people encouraging me/us, signing my/our petitions, or from those who have voted for me in a past election or intending to vote for me/us in a future one. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean that I shy away from pointing out the inequities and biases from the Big Brother Press, if only to show how big the scale of corruption is in today's political class, including those that enable them.

So it's not exactly news that the corporate news media and their sycophants only tell us news that they think we need to know, even if what they think we don't need to know is something earth-shakenly important, like whether or not our much heralded democracy is functioning well, and incidentally, this latter point is one of the functions of the director of elections election in King County this year, and elections for secretary of states, auditors, registrars and county clerks around the nation. However, the Big Brother Press in King County is not so interested in informing you about what the contrasting differences and approaches are in this election as they are in making sure that the outcome they want is a fait accompli. One county elections job is not necessarily earth-shakenly important, but the power of incrementalism has a negative side as well as a positive one, and so far it's adding up to the corporate mammoth telling the rest of us: "Never mind the opposition to how elections are run in America, nor the secrets and nuances of the system."

Some Oversight

Hello Voters and Supporters,

The dubiousness of the rating game is all starting to tie together after reading one of the so-called alternative sites, Publicola.com, under an article about councilwoman Jane Hague and an applicant for the so-called elections oversight committee, in which it is reported that the applicant said he was recommended by Ms. Huff for appointment to the committee. Really? I didn't realize that the director actually recommends candidates for the oversight committee. If this is true, it's like the Yankees recommending to the baseball commissioner which umpires it wants for their games. Yet, this same oversight committee has a person on the municipal league, and the municipal league is going around rating director candidates. It's more cozy between these three entities (municipal league, oversight & elections) than I ever imagined since I didn't know, until recently, that the elections department had a say on who oversees them.

As readers of Commoner know, I was, of course, not pleased by the rating that the municipal league gave me this year, especially being aware of how they rated a certain other candidate in the special election of '09. For more about this particular disparity, see "Post Script" in our Carnival blog.

Rolling Out Lieutenant Governor Petition

The petitions have been printed and are ready to go. Mark Greene, candidate for Director of Elections, but also running for lieutanant governor in case he falls short in the vote count on Nov. 8th, is rolling out his lieutenant governor petition over the weekend, and expects to get the first few signatures before Labor Day. If you would like to sign, and could help with getting a few more signatures from your friends, relatives and acquaintances, please, write to mark@partyofcommons.com and the committee will send you a petition. Since the lieutenant governor campaign will be a partisan election, Mark will be running under the "Commons Party" or "Party of Commons" banner. Mark may be the only candidate from King County for this position; the incumbent (Owen) is from Mason County and Lisa Brown is from Spokane County. Since the Legislature has made the political calendar start earlier, it appears the petition must be turned in to the Secretary of State's Office by late May, 2012. South King County & Mark

The 9th Congressional District covers much of South King County, which is an area where Mark Greene has only campaigned lightly for the director of elections campaign, because of expenses. However, in '04 (for U.S. representative) and '06 (for U.S. senator), Mark campaigned heavily in South King County, especially in '04, where Mark got the overwhelming majority of the more than 2000 signatures he needed to get on the ballot that year. Those South King County citizens will likely remember those people's campaigns when they see Mark's name on the ballot for director this year, and Mark will definitely need their votes to coincide with Mark's big East side support.

With Mark's advantage in the east and south suburbs, we expect this to be a close election, as Ms. Huff will probably do very well in the City of Seattle; nonetheless, Mark needs at least 30% in Seattle, and that should be enough to make the election close. North and West King County suburbs may provide the key that decides the election, and Mark is hoping to be in the 45 - 50 per cent range in those areas; if he breaks less than 45% in those areas, Ms. Huff will probably win. It is an absolute necessity for Mark to win at least 67% of the vote in East King County, and to get a 50 - 55 per cent majority in South King County. The bigger the majority in the south, the better Mark's chances of winning. Unfortunately, the mainstream news media and the so-called alternative press/media holds a large sway over how people vote, so we can only hope that a pro-people's campaign tide can overcome these pro-establishment influences.

We Want a Great Democracy

Democracy is something that so many like to parade around as wonderful, and bizarrely used as an excuse for intervening in the affairs of other nations, but the number of hypocrites in our nation that really don't like democracy is quite large. Like trying to limit who can be on ballots, such as minor parties; trying to suppress citizens from being able to vote (as a number of administrations around the country are doing now); making money a bigger hurdle in elections than it should be in a practical democracy, such as the Supreme Court's unseemly "Citizens United" decision, and no public financing of elections for the most part (and none in Washington state); authoritarians that suppress the right of petition, a First Amendment right; and not to be left out, a media that promotes democracy on the one hand, and on the other hand does everything it can to give a narrow, one-sided vision of democracy, and this isn't just the usual suspects, i.e., the corporate media and their affiliates.

So we, at the Party of Commons, want a great democracy, and we will do everything possible to get this message to the people despite the present Seattle-area news bottleneck of the director of elections election. We don't have a real press in Seattle, but pretenders to the throne. Any kind of a so-called even-handed, objective mainstream media does not exist in King County, especially regarding elections, and rarely in the so-called alternative press. The director of elections election is a county-wide election relating to a crucial department, though, so this should be given at least some attention.

Democracy: shaky on the margins, and great when in the hands of the people.

A Scandal Revisited

This is a follow-up to a post we made on August 19, 2011: "Scandalous Associates: Municipal League & Some of their Buddies," which has begun the uncovering of the fact that there is a cozy relationship between the so-called municipal league (King County), the so-called elections oversight committee (King County), and the elections department (King County). Now, we have learned that at least one person works for two of the three entities. The coziness of these three entities forms a de facto coalition. Therefore, the municipal league should have recused themselves from rating the director of elections candidates since there are obvious conflicts of interest. If the elections oversight committee has made any criticisms of the elections department since their existence, which is very doubtful, the media doesn't report it.

By the way, why aren't the General Election candidates' voters' guide profiles posted on the elections department's website by now, more than a week after the primary, which is important to Mark Greene given that the Seattle area media's disinterest in the Director of Elections election borders on a thinly disguised effort to ensure the incumbent's victory by not mentioning the opposition whatsoever? Even the press/media in some nominal democracies of other parts of the world are not so crass in their bias. Apparently, the Sims-Logan-Huff machine at Elections is taking their cue from their friends in the media in withholding information about the opposition to their administration, which just goes to show the difficulty, if not laughableness, in being in an election against the people that run the elections. Maybe, the elections oversight committee can get the elections department to not wait until the last minute to post these general election profiles (hee hee hee).

One of the reasons why the Party of Commons supports Washington's controversial "Top 2" primary system, is because we believe it represents the best chance for minor party or non-establishment candidates to actually win and take office. We won't go over the details of "Top 2" in this essay, that's been covered before. The point is that "Commons" is trying to get a plurality or majority of the votes, not just going through the exercise of making political points for the sake of it. There are issues that are fundamentally important to us, like banning drones and nukes (all nukes whether for armaments or energy) and pulling out of the latter day Pax Romana, and we are consistently trying to get the people behind us. Many will call it "Pollyanna," but this is about humanity and the survival of the species more than anything.

We often wonder how people can actually talk about some sort of sweeping revolution, when they can't even keep themselves from marking ballots for the same old Establishment candidates, a.k.a. Democrats and Republicans, even when provided with a sensible alternative. Nonetheless, Commons is steadily making progress in getting votes through old-fashioned democracy. According to Confucious, known for wisdom in his time, the journey of a thousand miles begins with making the journey in the first place.

Regarding their dubious ratings, the so-called municipal league missed the opportunity to go for a 180 degree difference, in their minds, between Ms. Huff and Mark Greene by only giving Huff the next to the best rating. That probably would have made their preordained rating scheme a little too obvious. In the unlikely event that some enterprising mainstream news journalist will get close to their shenanigans, better for them to be able to say, "See, Huff didn't even get the best rating." Sources that have come up have caused speculation that the King County Municipal League's rating of Mark Greene was no surprise and no accident given that the outcome may have been preordained long before Mark filled out a questionnaire and went on a League interview. It seems that certain quarters supporting Ms. Huff -- if not in her camp -- were worried about Mark's rising popularity in King County, especially in East King County, and that some people in the Muni League are connected in some way with the Sims-Logan-Huff King County Elections Department, possibly someone from the so-called elections oversight committee, or some other person or persons from the Muni League closely acquainted with Elections Department personnel. It would be nice if some enterprising journalist would get to the bottom of this scandal. Dream on, caretakers of democracy.

Municipal League Bows to Corporate Nemeses With "Yessir"

Powerful influential corporate bosses, concerned about my political popularity in Washington by voting boxscores and generally, and not pleased by the League's qualifying rating for me in '09, ordered the King County Municipal League this year to ruin this guy (me) politically forever. The League bowed to their masters, said "Yessir," and went about their rating sleaziness. They probably have good reason to think that a lot of people take their ratings seriously, as many are unaware that it is a charade directed by the Establishment and the overall corporate mammoth. So I will have a lot of work to convince the people that all of this is the present reality of elections in America, and that we can't let the organizations of the Establishment instruct us how to vote, otherwise we are ceding our vote to the same behemoth that wants so much to turn our nation into a Medieval-type feudal society, with the masses as their serfs.

Lieutenant Governor Option Looks Most Viable for 2012

Hello Voters and Supporters of the Party of Commons,

As you know, as a true representative of the people, I am never the favorite in these elections, and this year is no different, especially with the Establishment pulling all the sleazy tricks to keep me out of office. Therefore, I always stay one step ahead, as if playing a chess game, when considering my electoral options. If I don't win the Director of Elections contest this year, I will definitely run for a statewide constitutional office next year, and I have been debating which one between these two: Secretary of State or Lieutenant Governor. At one point, I thought I would run for Secretary of State forever until I won, but with the economic ostracization that I am facing and the time involved with running for Director of Elections this year, I may have no choice but to run for the position that would be easiest to get on the ballot in 2012 with signatures, and that would be Lieutenant Governor.

If I'm elected Director of Elections, I intend to serve out my full term, with the caveat being, being elected Secretary of State. If not elected Director of Elections, it looks like my competition for Lieutenant Governor will be the incumbent, Brad Owen, who apparently sees the position as a sinecure, a legislator named Lisa Brown, and as yet some unnamed Republicans, and maybe some other minor party candidates besides myself. By Labor Day, 2011, I will have a Lieutenant Governor petition ready to go, so anybody that wants to sign, please, send me an e-mail: mark@partyofcommons.com. Of course, I will have to extend my platform beyond just election administration issues, but "the people" can count on me to serve our interests first and foremost, and not to cave into to the corporate nemeses and special interests that want to turn America into a 21st century serfdom.

A Note from Mark:

Unfortunately, given the pitiful state of journalism in the Seattle area, I may not be participating in certain media inquiries about my campaign for this election should they take place. My decision whether to participate or not, should I be asked questions or for a statement (and that's definitely not sure), will be made on a case-by-case basis for this reason: it's not fair that the media should be biased towards my director of elections campaign all year long and then suddenly, at the last minute, they need a quip or two to make it appear like they are fair. No, if they are going to be unfair, generally, then I'm not going to fall for their "Trojan Horse" like I unwisely did with the King County Bamboozler League, a.k.a. Muni League.

I have become wary of the hack ratings, writing, and general disrespect towards non-establishment candidates or those candidates not affiliated with big parties or big money interests. This is not usual for elections when I'm only invited to a couple or so forums, not invited to editorial boardrooms, radio programs and so forth. On another August 1st, in 2009, a Times reporter's writing on a statement that I made was so poorly written (even though technically accurate), that it made my statement look about 90 degrees different than the truth and had the effect of making me look unimpressive. Whether this was intentional or not, I don't know, but there's an old saying: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

Circus News:

Nobody with more than a shred of curiosity about politics cares about the King County Muni League's ratings. Their collection of Establishment hacks and wannabees sitting in judgment of a candidate is no more defining of someone's credibility than any dozen or so random people who may draw conclusions on any particular matter, and for all we know given the mysteriousness of their proceedings, they may not even need a democratic vote to put their ratings on the books, let alone jury-like unanimity for the best or worst rating. Such as, it matters little to us if some council candidate wants to colonize space, as if NASA never thought about it, but when that candidate has a Master's degree in Accounting, regardless of what the Muni League thinks, that candidate should be rated qualified to sit on any county council in the nation barring some extraordinary reason why not. This is just one more example of the Muni League's arrogance in serving up "unqualifieds" to those that don't toe the Establishment line. If "Honest Abe" was around to see all this, he probably would have been wise enough not to have participated in this circus. The Establishment and the Sheep

The Establishment is walking our nation straight to the plank and into the sea. Not only have they tuned up the latter day Pax Romana, caused economic devastation by catering to the super-rich and the banks; e.g., engineered the so-called free trade pacts and canceled the New Deal-era Glass-Steagall law, fostered hazardous nuclear energy programs; even for Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty hold-outs, and on and on, but they have managed to hoodwink the populace into voting for them over and over, again, as easy as rounding up sheep. Now, through the auspices of the Seattle Times and others, they will tell you who to vote for, for Director of Elections in King County (the Times once endorsed George W. Bush for president), and may ridicule the opponents of their endorsees, and believe it or not, will fool a lot of the sheep into believing their bamboozlements even as the sheep can see the devastation all around them. The sheep must be getting tired of being herded around, though, you would think.

Corporate Nemeses Stymie Commoner Americans in Employment

Unbelievably, in these days of economic depression, it is fashionable for so-called American companies to go across the oceans to find workers to bring back to America through H1-B visas. Supposedly (and technically according to the law), they are filling jobs that they cannot find Americans to do, which is about the biggest lie ever fostered by the great corporate nemesis. On the other hand, the "green card" lottery (a program brought through the cahoots of Uncle Sam & the corporations who want a gigantic labor pool to increase their ability to control and manipulate) is still bringing fifty thousand-or-so foreigners to settle here every year, which is yet another shameless policy that increases competition for scarce jobs, not to mention that America is not the last frontier. Thirdly, the other part of the aforementioned first hand, the outsourcing of jobs to foreign countries continues unabated, thereby completing the trifecta of bringing Commoner America to economic ruin or close to it.

Post-script: Incidentally, Mark, who is being economically shut out for jobs by the corporations because of his political activism, is looking for a temporary job until, hopefully, January, 2012, when the new term for Director of Elections in King County begins. De Facto Speaker

Eric Cantor, apparently, is the de facto Speaker of the House of Representatives, although he is actually the majority leader of the Republicans in the House. He leads the pack of extremists that wants to cut every program that helps the poor, and quite a few for the middle class; in other words, break the New Deal & the Great Society while not even so much as wanting to raise revenue by cutting or eliminating mortgage deductions for vacation homes, let alone letting the Bush II tax breaks for billionaires and millionaires expire. A lot of these extremists strut like Christians, believe it or not, while at the same time they are in the process of effectively snatching infant formula from many mothers with babies. Cantor, who wants to be the real Speaker someday, thinks it's good politics for the House not to raise the debt limit and cause an economic catastrophe, which he thinks would be blamed on President Obama, who by the way has agreed to most of the spending cuts that the extremists want, actually overcompromising. The president should not yield to Cantor, but he should educate the people more that it is the Congress that controls the purse strings, and all he can do is sign or reject what they send him. Not even FOX propagandists could make the de facto Speaker look good if the nation defaults on its bills.

Balanced Budget Nonsense

Mitch McConnell, the senator from Kentucky and Senate minority leader who sees his main job as doing the bidding of the ultra-rich, had the audacity to say that elections don't work, so he wants a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution, which would require a two-thirds vote of the Congress to raise taxes on his super-rich friends, which would effectively ensure that raising sufficient revenue for the treasury would be next to impossible (especially since "Pax Americana" budget expenditures are practically impregnable), and therefore New Deal and Great Society programs would wither on the vine, programs that generally benefit the middle class and poor; as if his friends somehow don't have the same obligation as everybody else to pay their fair share of taxes and contribute to the greater national domain that they have so greatly benefitted from.

McConnell's nonsense about balanced budgets, which by the way have been either rare or nonexistent in American history, is really a round about way of saying he wants a super-majority vote in Congress in order to raise taxes on his masters & friends that pay for his campaigns. As for his line about elections not working ... well, his party is neither in the White House nor the majority in the Senate ... in other words, elections don't work when his side doesn't win. You would think McConnell could be a little more slick with words.

Not that many voters are aware of it, due to the negligence of a partisan, ideologically controlled news media, but there is an election for King County Director of Elections in November, 2011. The news blockade about the position that runs the elections department is just another piece of the puzzle about a media that is more concerned about controlling events than merely reporting the story. Objective journalism in the United States has become the purview of a handful of newspapers, blogs, radio stations and others, but being a part of the establishment-run apparatus that works primarily for the benefit of big business is the main status of the overwhelming number of so-called journalistic outfits, and that includes a good number of the quasi-alternative papers and slick news oriented internet sites & blogs. It's no accident that media organizations that downplay certain political campaigns also usually endorse the opponents of these campaigns. Where's Obama's Primary Challenger?

Did we get yesterday's news correct? President Obama is going to put social security up for negotiation? Somebody's kidding, right? A Democratic Party president putting up the New Deal and the Great Society as sacrificial lambs for the extreme right-wing Republican Party to make a meal from? It's no joke, apparently, because April Fool's Day passed some time ago. Surely, this will bring the liberal wing of the Democratic Party, as opposed to the Wall Street/free trade wing, to find a challenger to Obama for the Democratic nomination for president in 2012? One would think such a challenge would be in the works, since Obama's other policies, such as foreign and civil liberties, are just as bad as his tax (did not let the Bush II tax breaks for the rich expire) and just announced economic policies. Obama is banking on the fact that the choices between worst and a little less worst are the only two options for voters. Either a disgruntled Democratic Party or a populist, non-interventionist independent candidate for president in 2012, or both, should prove him wrong.

In news from Europe, amazingly, for no ostensible reason, Ex-Prime Minister (Ukraine) Yulia Tymoshenko was removed from her own trial in Kiev, which seems to be more evidence that this is a kangaroo trial. "Trial in absentia," as Tymoshenko's blog also put it. Whether this is a temporary move by the court authorities in Kiev or permanent for the rest of the trial is not clear at this time.

Back to America: it's unfortunate that a Democratic-controlled Congress from a couple of years ago defunded an organization, ACORN, that was assisting low-income citizens with registration, housing and civics-related issues, because of a trumped-up media frenzy that was based on false and distorted allegations. Now, Republicans in the various state houses around the nation, which they have control of most of them, are trying to make it more difficult for the poor to vote through various vote suppression laws and administrative tactics, obviously figuring that they would vote more for their opponents than for them. This is disgraceful, because a nation concerned about good civic values should be trying to enhance participation in elections by all eligible citizens, not discourage it, while also not neglecting sensible controls that would inhibit possible fraudulent activity in registrations or voting.

Neither the Party of Commons nor Mark's director of election campaign is connected with either one of the major political parties. Help us defeat the Sims-Logan-Huff political machine.

Good Showings Were No Accident

The mainstream news media may ignore political candidates that really represent the people's interests, but they do not actually discount them as those who could take political office, which is exactly why they don't publicize them. Mark Greene has met literally thousands of voters on the streets of King County campaigning for various offices since 2004, and we believe those strong numbers will pay off in this year's countywide election against the unpopular Sims-Logan-Huff machine. Mark's good showings in Alaska in 2000 and 2002, and at least a 47% count in the controversial 9th District of Washington representative primary in 2004 were in spite of miniscule press coverage, but a strong campaign presence. Count on Mark to continue with the same campaign techniques that allowed him to make these good showings in the past.

Yulia and Them

Yulia Tymoshenko, the Ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine, had a chance to escape from her persecutors when they let her travel out of the country for a meeting with European political officials in Western Europe earlier this year. They were probably hoping that she would not return, which would have relieved them of the major political opposition to their rule. Tymoshenko returned to face the music, however, despite the fact that she, herself, has called the proceedings against her a "kangaroo court." This is the same courageous leader that led the Orange Revolution against a rigged presidential election, although ironically, years later, the major beneficiary of the Orange Revolution, Viktor Yushchenko, was so immersed with his own invective, and apparently discouraged by his own unpopularity, that he turned against Tymoshenko and indirectly assisted the opponents of what came to be intra-rival divisions within the Orange coalition; all this, amazingly, despite the fact that Yushchenko thought that international supporters of the opponents of "Orange" were responsible for poisoning him prior to his election. Can you imagine feckless American politicians, a la Al Gore & John Kerry, trying to overturn a rigged election through street protests? Interestingly, the then victorious "Orange," for their several years in power, divided or not, did not try to turn the tables on their political opponents through prosecutorial vigor; just as Barack Obama & Attorney General Eric Holder have not in regards to the obviously lawless Bush II crew, perhaps, hoping that the favor would be returned if Obama should happen to lose the election next year (Republicans are, indeed, accusing Obama of violations of the law). A Republican rulership putting President Obama in the same predicament as Yulia Tymoshenko is currently in come 2013? Naahhh -- not in America.

Kangaroo Trial in Kiev

Ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko, courageously facing her courtroom tribulations in Kiev, Ukraine, is currently undergoing what is commonly called a Kangaroo Trial, or in other words, a so-called trial where the outcome is already established or preconfigured. Meanwhile, in America, under the dictates of Roberts, Scalia, Kennedy, et al., if the case is about a commoner challenging a corporation, or vice-versa, the corporation will win virtually every time in the U.S. Supreme Court, such as in the bizarre generic medical drug case ruling of several days ago. Kangaroo there, kangaroo here.

After all, it's beginning to look like "the environment" is about to make all our other problems look tame in comparison: rickety, old nuclear power plants; nuclear power plant radioative waste just sitting in plants with no good place to put it; the Japan nuclear crisis overall & the effect on the oceans and Earth's ecosystem; Southern and Midwestern power plants being negatively affected by tornadoes and floods; Western plants possibly being affected by earthquakes; the global warming crisis and the political fingers-in-the-ears response; landfill and waste overload problems; ridiculous mountaintop removal mining in the Appalachian chain, and ocean species dying off at an alarming rate, among other serious environmental problems. Where is the political leadership? Who will make the environment the number 1 priority?

Mark Meets the League

Yesterday, in downtown Seattle, under friendly though sometimes tense questioning and interrogation by the King County Municipal League for the second time in his career (the first was in Renton when Mark ran for King Co. Council in 2009), Mark Greene held up well under pressure and handled himself with diplomatic aplomb as he fielded numerous questions about his candidacy for director of elections from about a dozen or so league members. Afterwards, Mark traveled to his eastside stronghold to campaign while the long summer day shone its light until a couple hours before midnight. The campaign is expected to organize volunteers from Seattle proper, soon, to help him garner the 35% of the Seattle vote that he will need from the city in the general election. Mark expects to get 70% of the eastern King County vote, and to break even in southern King County and elsewhere outside of the aforementioned areas.

Persecution of Tymoshenko

Quite amazing developments in the world, circa 2010, while U.S. politicians and officials such as Bush II, Cheney, Rumsfeld and others enjoy de facto immunity for committing some of the worst crimes in American history, involving war, torture and otherwise flagrantly violating the Constitution, as conversely, by 180 degrees, in regards to both the alleged crimes and prosecutory discretion, Ukrainian authorities are prosecuting former Ukrainian Prime Minister, Yulia Tymoshenko, for past political decisions of a fairly arcane nature involving financial decisions. It should be noted that Tymoshenko is the current opposition leader. This looks similar to former Egyptian president/dictator, Mubarak, putting the politician who had the audacity to run against him for president in prison on charges of some rather arcane election law violation. This is an interesting contrast between the United States and Ukraine, politics as usual in both cases, just different styles of bamboozlement.

After a great petition drive from August of '10 to June of '11 to make the ballot for director of elections, our campaign cannot rest on its laurels, and we are continuing to make slow but steady progress in the face of overwhelming establishment media bias against our campaign. We always figured there would be some bias, but even we are surprised that the most active political campaign in King County cannot warrant a mere mention, practically, in either the establishment press or the slick sycophantic blogs (if you think the latter is you, you probably have a guilty conscience). Director of Elections candidate Mark Greene showed up at a candidate forum for county and school board candidates in downtown Seattle, yesterday, and gave a presentation about what should be the three main goals of an elections department: registration correctness, vote tabulation correctness and security of ballots. The crowd gave a good applause after Mark's speech. No representative from the Huff campaign spoke or was there as far as could be ascertained by this writer. Mark campaigned in his eastside King Co. stronghold not long after the forum was over.

Thanks for everything you have done to keep my campaign in the running, including one thousand six hundred thirty-five valid signatures on my petition and moral support. I keep dwelling on the media bias on this blog to emphasize the importance of word-of-mouth dissemination of my campaign (please, tell one person a day about my campaign, and ask that person to do the same). "Word-of-mouth" should not be underestimated, because it really can jump start a campaign. The silver lining in all of this is that voters will start to wonder why the media is suppressing information about the director of elections election, which may lead to more support for my campaign, the most active in King County.

Contributions Would Come In Handy

Hello, voters:

Again, thank you for your help in signing my petition. I also hope that you can dig into your pockets and find a few pennies, nickels and dimes to help out my hard-working campaign, arguably the most active in King County if not the state. Even each of you sending a few dollars would help me print literature and buy campaign buttons, and help with the all-important transportation costs that I will need to travel around King County. It would be a dream if I could actually send out a significant mailing to get around the media bias, but I don't even think about that. I will concentrate campaigning in my eastern stronghold, but I would like to eventually get to Seattle and other areas. The campaign cannot leave the huge voting bloc in Seattle solely to the opposition, because I'll need at least 35% of the Seattle proper vote. Across the board, with all the uncontested council races, this is not going be a particularly exciting election year, and my campaign will be one of the few, not to mention the most populous contested election in the state, wherein people can place their vote in general dissatisfaction with the status quo, not even particularly about elections. Of course, I spend my own money for my own campaign, but I don't make a lot of money being a consultant, because bigwigs haven't been my clients, I'm basically a consultant for the people. That's where you come in, helping me to engineer the biggest upset of the year. Thank you so much.

Campaign Hiatus (World News)

Mark Greene, very tired after a 10-month long petition drive to make the ballot, has recently been recovering from plain weariness and recuperating at home. Although making a couple of short campaign forays in his stronghold of East King County over the weekend, it may take a week or two to get back into full campaign mode. The campaign is in hiatus right now. The ol' reformer is restoring his energy and getting ready for the long haul in the director of elections race.

No Wholesale Firings in a New Administration

Of course, with the possibility of a new director next January, there would be reforms at the Department of Elections -- that's what elections are about, after all -- although Mark, an independent, is not part of a major party political apparatus and does not have a pool of advisors and party staff to help him make selections for staff. Mark, besides using his own judgment and pulling from his own experience, will rely on trusted reform-minded politicians of a bi-partisan or non-partisan nature and election experts to make suggestions for new individual personnel. By law and the interest of a smooth transition, there will be no radical changes in the civil service staff if Mark is elected, and some of the current managerial staff will be kept on board in January, especially those who were not under former controversial director Dean Logan's tutelage. Mark recognizes that there are many conscientious workers currently at Elections, and he will need their advice, expertise, professionalism and experience if elected in November. As far as salaries are concerned, Mark would concentrate on decreasing (lessening) his own director's salary only (by 33%; Ms. Huff currently makes $155,000 per year, approximately), except that no management salary should be higher than the director's salary. Civil service salaries will not be affected by this election.

Who Needs the Media

Hello, voters:

Thanks to the thousands of people who signed my petition for Director of Elections, it has succeeded, and therefore this campaign will be in the general election (there will be no primary for this position, because only 2 candidates filed). The Seattle establishment media and their sycophants have greeted the ballot success of the most active campaign in King County with practical complete non-reporting, and that's not a big surprise. Their goal is not journalism, but to normalize the entrenched politics of mediocrity. Despite the huge obstacles of media bias and low campaign funding, I will be campaigning to win, and campaigning hard. As Ron Paul said recently, "Americans are fed up with the media-anointed, establishment 'frontrunners' ...." It's about time.

The petition signers have gone about the business of keeping democracy implanted in the State of Washington this year, or in other words, assuring that the election for director is the biggest contested election in the state this year.

The campaign committee estimates that sometime in the second half of May, on May 16th or thereafter, we reached our two thousandth signature, and therefore Mark should be well on his way to making the ballot for director of elections in King County, Washington, probably getting enough signatures by filing day to withstand a 35% invalidation rate. Mark, somewhat reluctantly, took on this campaign following controversy about an earlier petition and realizing there were serious problems in Elections. The Establishment Versus the People

Hello, voters:

The media establishment is suppressing information about my campaign for director of elections and the stolen '04 primary scandal in order to keep the status quo in place, which is why I will need you more than ever to get out the word through word-of-mouth. My request to you is to tell at least one person a day about my campaign and also request that they do the same, and as a result the fact that I am running for director will get out exponentially.

The King County elections department may try to keep me off the ballot come early June, despite well over 2000 signatures on my petition, which is why I am requesting a lawyer, able to work pro bono, to come to my assistance immediately.

The establishment has their candidate in Ms. Huff, the people, nonetheless, have me, struggling for election reform, accountability and integrity.

It's becoming obvious, after observing the high signature invalidation rates of the recent anti-tunnel petitions, that the King Co. Elections Department is playing games with petitions, invalidating significantly more signatures than the Secretary of State's Office, and thereby effectively making the number requirement for petitions higher than the statutory law. This is illegal. For more on the Huff-McConnell petition number arrogation, see our "Politico" blog.

Mark is coming close to the 1460 technical signatures needed for the director of elections candidacy petition, probably surpassing that number in a few days. We will need at least another 600 or so signatures to survive a 30% invalidation rate, which is unrealistically high for petitions, but we are trying to avoid litigation if at all possible.

Different Role for Committee Needs Your Contributions

Democracy in Election Process will begin assisting with the registration of Washington state voters with a more concerted effort as well as reminding the already registered to update their information with the various election departments. Volunteer staff and I will also help citizens at no charge with civic & governmental matters, rudimentary tax matters, writing initiatives/petitions and gathering signatures for them, and helping people understand the political process so that they can take a more participatory role in government if they want to.

To accomplish these goals and to fill the void where other organizations have done this type of work in the past but are now defunct, Democracy in Election Process needs your contributions. Democracy in Election Process, which is registered with the Washington Public Disclosure Commission, will soon have an online format for these contributions for those who prefer a quicker method to donate than mailing, but for now please send a check to "Democracy in Election Process Comm., president, Mark Greene" (this will be changed to solely "Democracy in Election Process" as soon as I re-name the committee's financial account to bring it up to date with the more active role that it will play). I am working full time in politics and consulting now, and this is my only source of income, so any help in helping me assist the community in asserting the most common denominator of commoners' economic and civic agendas would be greatly appreciated.

Mark surpassed a thousand signatures needed to get on the ballot for Director of Elections more than a week ago. It's all but certain now that the campaign will get at least a few hundred more signatures than the requisite number needed, but do not put it pass the King County elections department to defeat the petition by nitpicking the names on the petition with incredulous rulings, thereby enabling them to get from under a contested election. If the petition is good enough to be turned in, which it probably will be, Mark will be on the ballot. The campaign does not need one more signature than the requisite number in the law, but will turn in many more than that number (please, see statement further below regarding the campaign's appeal to the general public for help in getting signatures).

Mark has met thousands during the campaign and has impressed many by his knowledge of election administration, including preparing for the important 2012 redistricting that will be a central part in preparing for elections next year. Redistricting must be finished considerably before the primaries begin next year. Mark will not be able to go into elections and make wholesale management changes in a redistricting year (there are only a few months between the start of the new term in January of '12 and the primaries), but will keep competent management personnel in place, especially those that are currently working on redistricting.

Update: Henceforth, I will be writing more short essays on "Commoner" in the first person rather than the third. When this happens, I will list it as a first person essay or write my name in a byline. - Mark Greene

Ensconced in L.A. as registrar/county clerk, former King County elections director, Dean Logan, who presided over the Rossi - Gregoire imbroglio, also presided over the other curious election of '04 (the 9th Congressional District G.O.P. primary) that the mainstream news media has successfully hidden, is rather unsurprisingly surrounded by more controversy. The thread in which scandal in King County was woven is continuous and Logan's understudies, Huff, McConnell et al., have taken up where Mr. Logan left off; in other words, it's all one continuous thread called "Logan-Huff." Meanwhile, the media (and their sycophants) that didn't tell the public anything at all about the primary stolen from Mark Greene in '04 silently laughs as they figure this year's director of elections campaign will not unveil the relevant facts of '04. They may be right, this story, that even Mark knew nothing about until the summer of 2010, may never get out as fully as we wish, but we hope that it will finally come out. It's bad enough to have an election stolen, let alone it not even be known as controversial. On the brink of spring, Mark's petition signing numbers for Director of Elections have picked up, and there should be a thousand signers well before the official first day of spring. Not surprisingly, the mainstream news media and their blogosphere sycophants have not used any ink or bandwidth to mention the one campaign for director other than "Logan-Huff." Funny, the media and their sycophants will report on candidates for other offices despite the fact that they may not have yet shaken a single hand (hee hee hee). Nor have they said anything about the other curious election of '04. Is there one mainstream journalist out there who will report on the so far successfully hidden '04 scandal? Meanwhile, the campaign marches on, and there won't be a lot of time for blogging before filing time in June.

Mark is Studying Redistricting

Mark Greene, preparing for a possible election victory in November, is studying the very important redistricting guide given out by the Secretary of State's office for election officials, reformers and reviewers. Redistricting is a complicated procedure, which involves changing district lines, making new maps, writing legal descriptions, updating voter registration information, balancing the latest census numbers for precinct changes, among many other obligations for election officials. Redistricting takes place every 10 years after each census, and the year 2012 is the next redistricting year. Mark stays up late nights figuring all this information out and will be ready to implement the 2012 redistricting. If elected, Mark's new management staff, which would replace several members of the Huff staff, will be sent to Olympia immediately (in November & December), before the beginning of the term in January of '12, to learn this process.

The Experience Issue

Catch 22

We saw through our crystal ball :) that before this election is over virtually all the editorialists and pundits will tell the public about all the experience that Ms. Huff has without even mentioning her opponent's name, or maligning anybody without experience. Yes, she has experience alright, being a Democratic Party insider, and being appointed to nearly all of her important positions, and since there are few election director positions in the state, she should naturally have a position for as long as she likes, along with her $146,000 per year salary. Mark doesn't play insider games, so he will have to be elected through his own merits: election reform activist for a decade, studying election administration diligently, and being a part of several election law cases. If elected, Mark will also ask the K.C. Council to decrease director's salary by 33%. That's about right.

There have been a lot of interesting goings ons in the news, lately, that we haven't commented on, because of the time needed to work on the director of elections campaign. Such as the uprisings against autocrats in the Middle East. Imagine the now ex-dictator of Egypt being depressed, so it was reported, after he has made a career of making other people depressed. There was an interesting article in the New York Times about large amounts of money being wasted on loony spy gadgets. Also, in the news, drones that have caused so much destruction and grief to civilians in southwest Asia are coming full-scale to America with Uncle Sam's blessing; perhaps they'll start off with just the non-weaponized Orwellian spying version if we're "lucky". As we implied before, drones should be generally banned by conventions and treaties. Protests in Madison, WI against union-busting by Wisconsin's governor hark back to the spirited anti-interventionist/countercultural days of the 1960's and 70's. Lots of things to write about, but we have a campaign to run.

Shameless Media

We have never seen a mainstream media as shameless as the one in the Seattle metropolitan area, except maybe in Anchorage, Alaska (Mark Greene won back-to-back major party nominations for U.S. representative in that state without so much as a photograph in that city's main newspaper, despite that they had received one from the Ketchikan Daily News). The PI, sometimes curiously called "Post-Intelligencer," formerly a newspaper, but now a mere website, is especially shameless, not the least of which when one of their "journalists" wrote an article which effectively threw roses at the feet of Reagan Dunn during the 9th district council election in King County in 2009, while snidely dismissing his challengers; an article that was completely void of substance. Now, the Seattle, WA mainstream media, along with their blogosphere pups, are giving strong signals that they are going to give the Logan-Huff regime an exclusive media card, effectively being campaign agents for Sherril Huff. Ain't that sweet.

Spring Phase

Chairman Mark Greene, candidate and only challenger thus far for the Director of Elections position, is taking a few days rest from the campaign before the 3rd and final phase of the election candidacy petition effort. There is now a little more than 800 signatures on the petition, and as expected, the 2nd/winter season phase slowed down the pace of getting signatures, because of cold and downcast weather and a major election just passed. Come the 16th day of February, there will only be a few respites thereafter, on significant holidays, before filing week in early June. In the first (summer/autumn) phase, the campaign got a little more than 550 signatures; in the winter phase, we got a little more than 250; and now the spring phase (and for our purposes it's starting on February 16), we will need 1,200, which would give us more than 2,000 overall signatures. The spring phase will be about a month longer than the summer/autumn phase, but also keep in mind that the campaign only worked part-time in the first and second phases whereas we will work full time in the third phase.

Anybody that can request one petition page, and return anywhere from 2 - 10 signatures would be great, and probably the extra insurance that may be needed to get Mark on the ballot (contact information is below this paragraph). We are hoping that there will be no more challengers to Logan-Huff, thereby avoiding the necessity of a primary, but the campaign is ready for a primary, and has no doubt that the strength of it will catapult Mark into the General Election. The last time Mark officially qualified for an election with more than a thousand signatures was in 2004, the controversial Ninth Congressional District primary for U.S. Representative in which Mark probably won. Mark has since moved from the Ninth Congressional District, but he's going to need the 9th that's in K.C., again, and all of King County.

Logan-Huff Uses Foreign Vendor

The Logan-Huff run King County Elections Department is apparently using a vendor (Dominion) from a foreign country for their election/voting equipment. Logan-Huff had bought optical scanning system equipment from the controversial "Diebold"/Premier company, despite many objections from their Democratic Party base. Premier's inventory was acquired briefly by the almost equally controversial ES&S company, and now the inventory is in the hands of Dominion, a Canadian company. The director, Ms. Huff, was fully in agreement with the purchase of voting equipment from Diebold. As far as we know, they have not taken steps to use an American company as their prime vendor.

Test Run

Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts is quite the enigmatic figure. There have been all kinds of reports, news stories and inquiries about the possibility that the U.S. presidential election of 2004 was stolen, but Kerry doesn't seem indignant about that possibility, and he waged no protest in the aftermath of the election, though his vice presidential running mate reportedly wanted to challenge the results. Kerry has either been strangely silent or the news about any disgruntlement on his part isn't getting out much; we suspect the former. It has been widely reported that Kerry was leading in exit polls, generally, on Election Day, 2004, and also that there were several flagrant election incongruities in the State of Ohio, where the election was ultimately decided, yet Kerry, who could have made legal challenges with his ample campaign bankroll and commanded legions of supporters to protest the election, did nothing. There was a little fight about the election in the U.S. House of Representatives the following January, but it didn't come to much. It was all very strange, not even a whiff of an Ukrainian-style Orange Revolution; after all, people will not get worked up about an election if the candidate that was alledgedly wronged is himself or herself disinterested. Regarding the exit polls in '04, we believe that it was remarked by prominent election analysts that this was the first election where the exit polls for a presidential election were way off.

This is just a hypothesis, but we wonder if the probable stolen election in the G.O.P. primary for U.S. Representative in the 9th Congressional District of Washington in '04 was a test run for the much larger prize that would come about a couple of months later, the presidency itself? We think, though we're not quite certain, that high government officials today are on the trail of the election thieves, apparently the statute of limitations has not run out everywhere, especially if violations of election laws have occurred since that very strange election year of 2004.

800 Great Washingtonians

So far, about eight hundred great Washingtonians have signed Mark's petition for Director of Elections, and Mark thanks them immensely. Without them, there would probably be no contested election for Director of Elections in King County, Washington in 2011, and the same old mismanagement, chicanery, ineptitude and corruption would be uninterupted (now, this would be a good movie for Winona Ryder to star in, something on the order of "All the President's Men" or "Wall Street" with a lot of the shadiness captured through one movie). Eight is not enough though, we will need at least twenty hundred signatures, and even with that, which would be five hundred fifty signatures more than necessary, the Logan-Huff regime might find a way to invalidate the petition, but they shouldn't even be the ones checking it (or counting the votes in the election) considering the conflict of interest involved, and the campaign will see if it is possible for a different government agency to check the petition and count the votes.

As usual, the corporate mainstream news media (and their blogosphere sycophants) have not and probably will not report on the Mark Greene for Director of Elections (King County) campaign, though they have started reporting on other 2011 campaigns, because their mission is to satisfy establishment goals, and one of the main establishment goals is to keep the Potemkin Village of elections in the U.S. in "steady" hands, which in the case of King County, Washington, means the hands of the Logan-Huff regime. Mark, however, will not play into the hands of the mainstream media this year, but is taking his campaign directly to the people. No press releases, no interviews with certain reporters, and no general groveling to the media. This campaign is strictly for the people, whose word-of-mouth reporting will get the word out that suddenly there is an election in King County where politics-as-usual is unusually not in play on the main challenger's side.

So They're Reading the Constitution in Congress

The 112th Congress has started out with an obvious try at hoodwinking, reading the Constitution out loud and trying to make citizens believe that they are actually going to start following it for a change. As we have written on another blog, "Contrarian," the Constitution has become a guideline rather than the grand treatise that it is suppose to be, and high officials regularly disregard it at their whim. Nice try, Speaker Boehner, but you're not fooling anybody. Please, see comments section for our old "Contrarian" article about this subject.

Christina Taylor Green

We never knew of her existence until yesterday's tragic events in Arizona when an assassin targeted Congresswoman Gabrielle "Gabby" Giffords, who has survived, though gravely injured, and her constituents, several injured or dead, yet it seemed as though we knew this girl, who passed far too early in life, for a lifetime. Like Chairman Mark Greene, Christina Taylor Green was interested in politics at a very young age (9 years old), and was on her school's student council. In the act of trying to meet her congresswoman, her life was taken by a madman. It's all very sad, outrageous and numbing. Though these kind of murders are sadly not infrequent either in America or around the world, it is reading and knowing about one girl that makes us feel really sad. A young girl who liked politics and could have been a great politician is gone now; may she rest in peace for eternity in Heaven.

Corrupt Media Sweeps Election Fraud Under the Rug

The corporate news media, and their blogosphere sycophants, which didn't say a peep about the 2004 Washington 9th District Republican congressional primary incongruities (i.e., theft), and little if anything about the strange electronic occurences in that primary, generally, are trying to sweep under the rug all indications of election fraud in the United States by keeping silent, and saying and writing virtually nothing about it. It will be up to campaigns like that of Mark Greene's (for King Co. Director of Elections) to remind the people that fraud, incompetence and shady machinery are wrecking the last vestiges of democracy in the United States and making their "votes" nothing more than a charade to keep the status quo in power. The news media, rather than being the gatekeepers of democracy like they are suppose to be, are instead silent partners of the sleazy architects of corruption and fraud in not only the voting systems of America, but in the overall governance of the country. Mark will have an uphill battle in even making sure that the Director of Elections election is fair, as you can be sure that the next step of the Logan-Huff regime will be to invalidate the people's petition putting Mark on the ballot for the 2011 primary or general election, as they similarly invalidated a 2010 petition by Mark for a different position through arbitrary gamesmanship. The more people pay attention to the election however, the harder it will be for them to contemplate fraud, which is why Mark will need your continued support and contributions, but more importantly than that, watching King County Elections and the similarly shady King County Council like a hawk.
