Washington State and the Bill of Rights Nullification

These members of the Washington Congressional Delegation, listed below, voted in favor, unfortunately, of the latest National Defense Authorization Act, in separate votes by the 2 houses of Congress, that effectively nullifies the Bill of Rights (please, see our two previous posts about this subject and our blog Statesperson).  Only James McDermott from the 7th District, of all the members of the Washington delegation, had the integrity to vote against this bill, which incidentally has more things wrong with it than just the Bill of Rights issue, but that was the most important and glaring.

Even though this particular provision in the defense authorization bill may become law if Obama signs the bill, it would really not be the law, since it clearly overrides the Constitution, and Congress cannot do that through a simple bill that is not an amendment to the Constitution, and not ratified by the necessary super-majority of the states. We think that Obama would be undermining his re-election campaign if he actually signs the bill, which at this time, we're not really sure if he hasn't already. We have a feeling that there won't be a …
