THANK YOU, DARCY

I want to thank Darcy Burner for her dedicated political service to the people of Washington and the nation over the years and for her endorsement of me for Lieutenant Governor of Washington.  Though, we are at odds on some issues, Darcy Burner and I agree on several economic issues, such as protecting Social Security and the New Deal/Great Society programs, generally, and general non-interventionism in foreign policy.  Darcy is leading in the polls in the 1st Congressional District among Democratic candidates.  I am positive she will finish in the Top 2 come the August 7th primary.

Former Ukrainian Prime Minister  Yulia Tymoshenko, the courageous leader of the Orange Revolution, has continuously been jailed by political opponents for almost a year as they are determined to serve up one trumped-up charge after another to keep her in prison for life.  She and her jailed political allies should be freed. With the qualifier that we support neither candidate in this year's presidential election, President Obama and Mr. Romney are having somewhat of a debate, through commercials and comments from spokesmen, about outsourcing of jobs, though it is clear that Romney made a very comfortable living off of his company's outsourcing of jobs to foreign countries, though he has the gall to call himself the "jobs" candidate or something like that.  I have a solution to outsourcing: tax companies that do it heavily enough so that it will no longer benefit them to do it, and if they threaten to move their entire operation to a foreign destina…

President Abraham Lincoln, our greatest president, suspended habeas corpus and tested the limits of civil liberties, generally, during his administration, although, this was during the Civil War and thus tolerable to most pro-Union citizens, but even that era did not go to the lengths of today's police state.  Massive, practically unheard of in pre-21st century eras, spying on citizens without warrants in concert with the overreaching, unconstitutional so-called Patriot Act.  It's time for the Constitution to be respected and upheld by today's elected officials of the United States of America.

It's amazing that the Washington State Labor Council/AFL-CIO endorsed the incumbent L.G. (Owen), an official who is not great on their issues and snubbed their 2012 candidate endorsement convention, and that S.E.I.U. endorsed one of the Republican candidates (Finkbeiner), believe it or not.  Everybody knows the Republican position on minimum wages, for instance, which is pretty much never raise them.  Yet, among the major candidates for Lieutenant Governor, I am the strongest supporter of workers' rights.

Kittitas County was one of my best counties -- the 4th best -- in the last statewide election, in 2008, that I was in.  I'll need Kittitas to come through again for me, because this time there is a real possibility that I'll make the Top 2 in the primary.  The other top counties for me in 2008 were Skamania, Clark and Stevens; first, second and third, respectively.  Thanks, Kittitas County!

It seems like the Lieutenant Governor segment of TVW's Video Voters' Guide is getting short shrift compared to the other offices as far as the number of times that it's broadcast on cable television is concerned.  Here's the link to see it on the internet.  The portion showing my speech is fifth (or second from the last), starting at 20 minutes and 22 seconds into the video.  Just set the dial at 20:22 to go directly to me.  Thanks!

As a resident of King County, I want to thank the 90,082 people who voted for me for Director of Elections last November.  I had a comprehensive plan to reform the error-prone, lackluster elections department in this county, but the corporate media and their wide array of sycophants, in their desire to keep the rickety status quo, decided to either distort or malign my campaign, or keep it largely unknown.  Like Ernie Banks, the Hall of Famer from the Chicago Cubs, used to say, "Wait'll next year."  That happens to be now.  I must carry King County, or at least come very close, to make the Top 2 in this year's primary, and I am …

How does the media get away with brazen, flat out lies about who are candidates for office in Washington (and no doubt, this is a problem throughout the U.S., not just here)?  It all goes back to that old chestnut: the more brazen and bigger the lie, the more believable the story  -- or some version of thisYou can pretty much approximate which candidates will be accorded credibility by how strongly they align themselves with the corporate power structure.  They are not called the corporate media for nothingas they have reserved powers for themselves that is more akin to a totalitarian society than democracy, and that's practically where we&…

My Fellow Washingtonians,

I am celebrating my 36th year this summer of being in elections in states as diverse as Michigan, Minnesota, Alaska and Washington, with my only two victories coming in Alaska for the Alaskan Democratic Party nomination for the U.S. House of Representatives (the years 2000 and 2002).  However, there was a controversial primary for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 9th Congressional District of Washington in 2004 in which I probably won, but the mystery surrounding that election has never been solved, and any facts about it may be in the papers of the office of the U.S. District Attorney of Western Washington, now …

GLOBAL WARMING & DARCY BURNER

With record high temperatures across the United States this summer, it should now be clear to even the most dedicated global warming deniers that global warming/climate change is a fact and that we as a nation and a world community must do everything in our power to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and other "greenhouse" gases.  This is a quote from Darcy's campaign website: "A healthy environment is essential for a high quality of life and I am committed to protecting it for current and future generations. The environment is much more than just beautiful scenery: it is the air we breathe, the w…
