Clark County, WA

In this blog's recognition of Washington's 39 counties, each of the next 39 posts on Commoner will be named in honor of a county, in alphabetical order starting with Adams. The county that is recognized on a particular day does not necessarily correlate with the particular topic chosen for that day other than in the general sense.

FALSEHOODS BY THE SEATTLE TIMES AND THE OLYMPIAN

The "Seattle Times," not surprisingly, and "The Olympian" newspapers, among other media, have reported, without qualification, that Brad Owen, Bill Finkbeiner and Glenn Anderson are the candidates for Lieutenant Governor, strongly implying that they are the only candidates. Whether the corporate media respects democracy and the real truth or not, there are actually six candidates for Lieutenant Governor, including me. I received over 90,000 votes for King County Director of Elections last year, 22 % of the vote, so I think I deserve better than being passed over for mention in…

Blog News

New post: Southern Northwest Commons.

If possible, please, consider contributing to campaign: make selections of how you want to donate, or send check or money order to Mark Greene for Lieutenant Governor Comm., P.O. Box 612, Bellevue, WA 98009. Also, Mark is depending on supporters to spread the word about the campaign to get around the media bias regarding non-establishment campaigns. Thank you! Mark is probably the only politician in Washington that had the temerity to keep the 2004 election shenanigans in the news as late as 2011 and to call out names. Elections are too important for shams to be ignored and for accountability to be…

The Mark Greene for Lieutenant Governor Campaign Committee needs volunteers.  Some volunteers can work directly from their own homes if they have on-line internet access or willing to write hand-written letters to the editor.  If interested, write Mark@brandnewelections.us or to our post office box, described futher below.  Thanks.

The Democratic Party's William Jennings Bryan, presidential nominee in 1896, 1900 and 1908, was known as the "Great Commoner."  He never became president, but was President Woodrow Wilson's Secretary of State from 1913 - 1915.

NO AUSTERITY

Europe, with Chancellor Angela Merkle's urging, has gone down the road of fiscal austerity and privatization with disastrous results: high unemployment, falling revenues, and state economies on the brink of bankruptcy.  Now, the Republicans in the U.S. Congress are trying to lead America into that same trap as if we were blind as to what is going in Europe.  I hope that Asotin County's residents will urge their Congresswoman, Cathy McMorris Rodgers, not to follow the Tea Party's path to austerity, which is not how America got out of the Great Depression of the 1930's, by the way.  President Roosevelt's answer to the De…

THE CITIZENS UNITED DECISION

In one of the worst federal Supreme Court decisions in American history, the "Citizens United" decision overthrew a century of federal election law and more decidedly than ever turned our elections into a plutocratic morass in which a handful of billionaires can basically control all elections in this country, and indeed a few of them are trying already.  It's a mockery of democracy.  This decision should be overturned by a Constitutional Amendment and thankfully there are several attempts by various members of Congress to do just that.  I hope that many citizens from Adams County will urge Congresswoman Cat…

Blog News LXIII

My campaign for Lieutenant Governor is going very strong.  I just made a cable television presentation for TVW, which I'm assuming will be broadcast next month.  I have met thousands of citizens in Washington during the last six months while campaigning for this position, and I expect that the Establishment will be in disarray when I'll likely finish 1st or 2nd on August 7th. As Democratic candidate for president, William Jennings Bryan, asked in 1908, the question of our times is also "Shall the People rule?"
