A 4 Man Race

Image
With Big Labor going against one of the strongest advocates for workers' rights, which is me, for candidates like Brad Owen and Bill Finkbeiner, who are mediocre at best on their issues, this will be a tough primary to break through, but not impossible.  It seems that some people just can't break away from the status quo, however, which is exactly what they'll get by sticking with Owen and Finkbeiner.  However, word is getting around that this election is essentially a 4-man race between Owen, Finkbeiner, Anderson, and myself (with my huge support in my own county), and that it's beginning to look like all four of us will be tightly bunched up with more or less the same number of votes.  A lot of Democratic voters are turning against Owen for his corporate-style Republicanism, and who put "Democrat" Party as his party preference instead of Democratic.  Also, the rank-and-file labor union members realize that Owen and Finkbeiner means more of the same, and th…

Brad Owen's Extravagant Trips

The incumbent Lieutenant Governor, Brad Owen, has been going on extravagant trips around the world in his Lieutenant Governor role since the 90's (he was once knighted by the King of Spain, believe it or not).  Yes, that's 90's, after all, he's been in office for 16 years and trying to go for 20.  Now, even though these trips may or may not be on the public dime, they are at least sometimes funded by his corporate friends, and probably the same people that take care of his PAC money, and he seems to be the only Lieutenant Governor candidate this year receiving corporate PAC money (Bill Finkbeiner has enough sense to have his corporate buddies send the money as individuals rather than through a PAC).  Owen is having a good time enjoying the perks of office.  I received a letter from someone who witnessed Owen in southern China at a banquet in a small city where he was treated like a King, implying that Lt. Gov. Owen had the best of accommodations.  That's just one t…

THE SO-CALLED PROGRESSIVE VOTERS GUIDE

The old chestnut about job hunting is that it's about who you know more than who you are.  One cannot help but think the same thing about elections after browsing through the on-line [so-called] Progressive Voters Guide, but also the 2012 King County Voters' Pamphlet.  Believe it or not, this so-called progressive guide lists "blue dog" Democrat, Adam Smith, as thier choice for congressman in the 9th Congressional District.  This is the congressman who voted for the invasion of Iraq, the dismantlement of Glass-Steagall, the nuclear energy deal with India (which was effectively a pot shot at …

JOURNALISM, TIMES-STYLE:  KEEPING INFORMATION UNDER WRAPS

In this year's elections, some candidates must feel like they are running against an extra opponent besides the officially listed candidates, and that would be the corporate media and their sycophants (the so-called alternative media).  They are so biased that the standard newspapers hardly pretend to be classical just-report-the-facts style journalism anymore.  For example, regarding the two Republicans running for Lieutenant Governor, Bill Finkbeiner and Glenn Anderson, they are some of the most socially liberal Republicans in the United States, but you would be hard pressed to know t…

There is a gigantic garbage dump in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, reportedly the size of Texas.  How did this happen?  What are the governments around the world, especially Uncle Sam, doing to solve this outrageous pollution problem and to clean up the Pacific Ocean, and to try to keep it from happening in other great oceans and seas?  The answer: pretty much nothing.  This is why we need to clean house in Congress and the state governments.  Voting for Darcy Burner in the 1st Congressional District (for Congress) and me (for Lieutenant Governor) would be a start.  Thank you.
