The Media Gets It Wrong: as Gomer Pyle Would Say, "Surprise, Surprise, Surprise."
I never told anyone, including any journalist, that I didn't think that I could win the election for Lieutenant Governor.  All that I told a reporter was that I am a long shot.  Long shots, even in horse racing, do win from time to time, and yes, it's possible for long shot candidates to try to bring some attention to issues important to them while still trying to win the election.  Apparently, though unfortunately so, the AP applied James Deal's talking points to me as well.  I have every intention of winning this election, and the fact that …

The county that is recognized on a particular day does not necessarily correlate with the particular topic chosen for that day other than in the general sense.

Thurston County was central in the controversial 9th District primary election for U.S. Representative in 2004, as I carried both the counties of Thurston and King after the polls closed (the total election was practically tied between Paul Lord and myself among all three counties in the district, including Pierce).  Then, less than two hours later, audit logs from the King County Elections office went mysteriously missing and were never accounted for.  These facts were known to King County election officials, including the director, Dean Logan, at the time, but they never investigated or thorougly investigated what was probably outside (not anyo…

Stevens County was one of my best counties for votes in the '08 election for Secretary of State.  Thanks, Stevens County!

Regarding the post entitled Skagit County, I revised the wording regarding the SEIU's strange endorsement of Bill Finkbeiner to a more diplomatic discourse.  This is a change for the better.

As today begins a period of National Mourning, because of another senseless mass shooting in America, in Colorado, again; I decided to bring my campaign to a halt over today and the weekend.  My sympathy is with the families of the deceased or gravely injured victims, and I wish a quick recovery to those now under medical care.  Once again, this shows that we need some sensible checks and balances regarding guns in America, which doesn't mean too greatly restrictive, but there is a laxity in gun laws that's not good for the common welfare of the people.

Snohomish County is very important to the chances of Darcy Burner making the Top 2 for U.S. Representative in the 1st Congressional District.  I would ask all Snohomish County residents who are in the 1st Congressional District to vote for Darcy.  However, if you are undecided about candidates because of the plethora of good choices in the 1st, vote for one of the other candidates for the short-term and vote for Darcy for the regular term (it's possible that not everyone in the newly configured 1st District will be able to vote in the short-term election).  She needs your vote, and my chances of being Lieutenant Governor would be better if she…

Skamania:  Mark's Best County in Last Statewide Election

Skamania County was the best county, on a per capita basis, for Mark Greene in the primary for Secretary of State in 2008 and is expected to be his best, per capita, in this year's Lieutenant Governor election.  Mark should carry Skamania, Clark, Stevens, Kittitas and King counties, and do well enough in the others to be in the Top 2,or in other words qualify for ballot placement in the General Election.  Every vote is very important, because making the Top 2 may be close.

SEIU ENDORSEMENT OF FINKBEINER IS STRANGE

The Service Employees International Union endorsement of Republican Bill Finkbeiner is strangely unwise.  Have they seen the Republicans' positions on unions, lately?  Well, I have and it is not very friendly to unions.  I filled out their questionnaire and went to their endorsement interview, but I guess I was a little too pro-workers' rights and pro-union for them.  Anybody who reads Commoner regularly knows that my views are more favorable to them than Finkbeiner's.  However, I'm sure a majority of their members are not going to vote for Finkbeiner no matter what their union management …

Anderson Island

When I visited Anderson Island for the 2004 U.S. Representative/9th District Campaign, I was the only candidate for that office who attended the candidate forum there.  Anderson Island is beautiful.  Thank you Pierce County and Anderson Island for your hospitality!
