Adams County, WA
In this blog's recognition of Washington's 39 counties, each of the next 39 posts on Commoner will be named in honor of a county, in alphabetical order starting with Adams. The county that is recognized on a particular day does not necessarily correlate with the particular topic chosen for that day other than in the general sense.
THE CITIZENS UNITED DECISION
In one of the worst federal Supreme Court decisions in American history, the "Citizens United" decision overthrew a century of federal election law and more decidedly than ever turned our elections into a plutocratic morass in which a handful of billionaires can basically control all elections in this country, and indeed a few of them are trying already. It's a mockery of democracy. This decision should be overturned by a Constitutional Amendment and thankfully there are several attempts by various members of Congress to do just that. I hope that many citizens from Adams County will urge Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers to support a new amendment that would nullify the decision of "Citizens United," and support me in urging our senators, Murray and Cantwell, to do the same.
