Cowlitz County, WA
In this blog's recognition of Washington's 39 counties, each of the next 39 posts on Commoner will be named in honor of a county, in alphabetical order starting with Adams. The county that is recognized on a particular day does not necessarily correlate with the particular topic chosen for that day other than in the general sense.
MORE LIKE INCUMBENT/ESTABLISHMENT PROTECTION THAN WORRY ABOUT THE BUDGET
Ironically, even the incumbent Washington Supreme Court Justice, Steven Gonzalez, reportedly is not happy that Washington State is not publishing a primary voters' guide that includes candidates for office, if any, even though this decision hurts the election chances of challengers more than incumbents, at least in races besides his. The ostensible reason that Washington is not publishing a guide is money, but that is a lousy excuse for a State of the Uniion with a multi-billion-dollar budget not to make elections one of the highest priorities. Of course, it's a lie that the state doesn't have enough money to publish a sufficient pamphlet for the both the Primary and the General Election. This is out-and-out incumbent protection, or better yet, Establishment protection, for those candidates that get so much money from their corporate friends that they need not be concerned as to whether a sufficient pamphlet is published or not. Meanwhile, the big media is basically annointing candidates for the primary, as usual, as nobody would hardly know there are 9 candidates for governor, not two. Who needs a primary anyway, if the "top two" are going to be annointed by the media? I'm going to vote for one of the other seven candidates for governor just to resist this overt bias and undemocratic control of elections by the Establishment, and I don't even know which one, yet. It's like this blog reported before, incumbents, basically, and the big media are hand-in-hand with making a mockery of our very nominal democracy.
by Mark Greene, Candidate for Lieutenant Governor
If possible, please, consider contributing to campaign: make selections of how you want to donate, or send check or money order to Mark Greene for Lieutenant Governor Comm., P.O. Box 612, Bellevue, WA 98009. Also, Mark is depending on supporters to spread the word about the campaign to get around the media bias regarding non-establishment campaigns. Thank you! Mark is probably the only politician in Washington that had the temerity to keep the 2004 election shenanigans in the news as late as 2011 and to call out names. Elections are too important for shams to be ignored and for accountability to be neglected.
