Rep. Adam Smith's Connections

From now until filing week, Commoner will be writing about Rep. Adam's Smith's connections to America's oligarchy here on Commoner and on our Eye on Congress blog.  We will be perusing the Federal Election Commission's website with regularity trying to figure out who of the richest of the rich are giving Smith money, and which corporations are supporting him.  Remember, Smith voted for the Wall Street bail-outs, despite that most average citizens here in the 9th District of Washington and America at large were against them.  As you know, the financial crisis of October, 2008 brought about this plan by the oligarchy, the Bush II White House, and majorities in Congress to bail out the banks and investment companies that had bamboozled commoners with or getting mortgages.  Thereby, these bankers and financiers enriched themselves in a variety of illegal or shady ways, such as giving themselves and their executives million and multi-million dollar bonuses before and after the bail-outs.  Bush was threatening Martial Law.  Adam Smith was among members of Congress in 1999 who set up the framework for these shenanigans by voting to effectively end the Glass-Steagall Act that year, which gave the banks unrestricted latitude to take risks with customers' money that they were not allowed to take before that vote in Congress and Bill Clinton's signature.

Smith's several campaigns have always been financed by the oligarchy and his rich friends who he has steadily helped over the years.  Yes, we know, he comes across as your friendly congressman who is allegedly working in the interests of the common man and woman, but Smith deals with the oligarchy on a regular basis with his votes in Congress and the money that he gets, and the F.E.C. reports show it, so we'll start showing you samples on Commoner and Eye on Congress.

Mark Greene, candidate for Congress in the 9th district, is presently not legally required to file with the F.E.C., because his campaign contributions and disbursements are too low.  You see, Mark is with the common folks that don't have the expendable money to give to politicians.

Look for our F.E.C. reports on Smith in coming essays.  Thanks.

Commoner is 99% certain that the 2004 G.O.P. primary election was stolen from Mark Greene and handed to a political novice. Help us solve the mystery of "The Other Curious Election of 2004" (WA 9th Congressional District U.S. Rep. primary) by contacting real journalists and asking them to look into it, and writing or calling the U.S. Attorney for Western Washington, Jenny Durkan, and requesting that she make public all matters relating to the '04 primary. Regarding the journalists, ask them to use "Freedom of Information" requests to get to the bottom of this case. For more information: see 2/26/13 post entitled "Major Election Irregularities (Graph & Essay), and from there, there will be a list of other related posts on Commoner. Elections are too important for shams to be ignored and for accountability to be neglected.

If possible, please, consider contributing to the Party of Commons, by sending a check or money order ($10 recommended), or contribute to Mark's U.S. Representative campaign that will be on the ballot in August, 2014 (checks should be made out to "Mark Greene for Congress"); for either matter, write to P.O. Box 612, Bellevue, WA 98009. Thank you!
