Losing the Base?

President Trump's firing of Steve Bannon and others, such as General Michael Flynn back in February, and having a White House with an abundance of generals and closet Democrats/globalists,  appears to be base-deflating.  The president should ignore the distorting "fake news" media to a great extent, and perhaps take a page from the late President Calvin Coolidge, nicknamed "Silent Cal," who was good at ignoring the press of his era: although, from President Trump's perspective, it should be just the press/media that he ignores, more or less; not the base or the base's issues, as the base is essential to the president's re-election.
