Whatcom County, WA

In this blog's recognition of Washington's 39 counties, each of the next 39 posts on Commoner will be named in honor of a county, in alphabetical order starting with Adams. The county that is recognized on a particular day does not necessarily correlate with the particular topic chosen for that day other than in the general sense.

JOURNALISM, TIMES-STYLE:  KEEPING INFORMATION UNDER WRAPS

In this year's elections, some candidates must feel like they are running against an extra opponent besides the officially listed candidates, and that would be the corporate media and their sycophants (the so-called alternative media).  They are so biased that the standard newspapers hardly pretend to be classical just-report-the-facts style journalism anymore.  For example, regarding the two Republicans running for Lieutenant Governor, Bill Finkbeiner and Glenn Anderson, they are some of the most socially liberal Republicans in the United States, but you would be hard pressed to know that from reading the Times, the News Tribune, or the Olympian, just to name a few examples in the State of Washington; and probably harder still to find such pertinent information in the newspapers that serve the less populated areas of Washington.  You pretty much have to do your own research.  Republican Bill Finkbeiner, for instance, is endorsed by NARAL and SEIU, believe it or not.  Well, at least we know that Finkbeiner and Anderson don't have secret ambitions of being president of the United States, someday, because they realize they would be run out of any Republican Convention of the early 21st century.  And, of course, Brad Owen, is going with the tide, liberalizing his social positions recently, perhaps to keep his Democratic party bosses happy.  So why is the media keeping this under wraps?  Well, if they reported the facts, the Republican vote might be splintered off to who knows where?  The media can't have that while they're trying to arrange who the Top 2 should be, and ultimately who's elected.

If possible, please, consider contributing to campaign: make selections of how you want to donate, or send check or money order to Mark Greene for Lieutenant Governor Comm., P.O. Box 612, Bellevue, WA 98009. Also, Mark is depending on supporters to spread the word about the campaign to get around the media bias regarding non-establishment campaigns. Thank you! Mark is probably the only politician in Washington that had the temerity to keep the 2004 election shenanigans in the news as late as 2011 and to call out names. Elections are too important for shams to be ignored and for accountability to be neglected.
